Can anyone suggest a cardigan to go with this dress?

I was thinking of a soft fine knit one in maybe grey, silver or beige, perhaps with some sequins or sparkle?

Wow, I didn't realise a cardigan with a dress was such a cardinal sin 😁

I kinda see the point, but the look @TooHotToRamble mentions was what I had in mind.. Very much a casual boots/cardi/knitwear with tulle/puffy skirt look.

I was going to wear it to a work Christmas do, but on second thoughts it will be too dressy... So I may not keep it anyway... but I do quite like it! Though the size 10 was too big and haven't tried on the 8 yet so whether that fits will probably influence my decision.

And thankfully, I don't have the fear of looking like an old woman... I am 30s but have only just stopped being asked for ID 😁

The tux looks bizarre, even bizarrer woth the dress. I love a fluffy cardigan though

Ok then if you want the look you are describing then an oversized chunky cable knit cardigan would look work.

Something silvery and small.

But a tux jacket or oversized blazer would be in fashion. A cardigan or leather jacket would be circa 2012

And as I said we are all entitled to a different opinion. I like to wear what I like and what suits me rather than what’s “in”. You do you!

‘I'd probably wear it with chunky boots and a cardi or biker jackets as previously mentioned. Not old woman at all! Lol!’.
Perhaps not, but such a tired old cliche, so beloved of a certain demographic on this site.

Now you are just being rude.

How about a stylish velvet jacket?

bettybadger · 01/12/2022 00:05

Love the dress!

What about sthg like this? : www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/ribbed-metallic-cardigan-silver-black/sty-k0670-slv

@WhenIgrowup42 'Very much a casual boots/cardi/knitwear with tulle/puffy skirt'

If that's the look you're going for, it's the wrong dress.

You need a puffball or tuelle skirt, close fitting vest or body.

And then a super slouchy and over-sized cardigan.

Sheer tights and I'd go for a pointed kitten heel, see Prada for inspiration.

But if you fancy chunky boots, opaque tights and messy hair.

I know MN loves a biker jacket but they reek of slightly dated Mint velvet or Boden. The only people who look cool in them now are actual rock chic types. The sort who would always wear them. Middle aged women wearing bikers or denim jackets with a floral dress and boots are just dated.

I do kind of agree with this. What is the point of wearing a biker jacket or denim jacket with a dress for warmth?. What do you do once you are inside a building??? I'd wear either the Boden metallic cardigan or a beautiful mohair fluffy type of one. I'm not one to try to look cool, I just wear what I like. I like blazers as they look fine indoors but biker/denim jackets look a bit silly worn inside.

Nice. That would look lovely.

beautiful mohair fluffy

Yes!!!

I'm sorry but I really don't get this jacket or biker jacket thing. Fine if your outside. But will ruin the line of the dress

I'm a fossil so please let me in!

I needed something to cover up recently when I wore a sleeveless dress. Well now.... I saw a clip on you tube of a scarf wearing guru (don't groan please lol).

She showed a sleeveless dress and this idea. Get a sparkly, chiffony, silky whatever scarf. Lay it out flat. Gather the ends of both sides together separately in a knot, and voila, a fabulous shrug type thing emerged.

Well reader, I tried it. It worked, so many compliments and oohs and aahs, how did you do that etc. Scarf cost a tenner. Job done.

But I probably should have tied up a biker jacket with doc Ms and flung it around my neck or something.
