I’m just wondering if anyone has an answer or similar experience to me using sulphate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner but my hair being in AWFUL condition now. I have had a past of bleaching, dying and using heat on my hair so my hair is naturally going to be dry now. But I’ve been on a journey for years to save my hair and bring my natural curls back, and I’ve only recently switched to sulphate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner but it’s made my hair feel 10x worse than normal shampoos. My hair feels like straw and my split ends have become worse and unmanageable. Does anyone who has gone through this have a solution? Or should I just switch back to the shampoos I was using before?

Co-washing is always great for damaged hair. I started doing this when I stopped using dye and let the grey in. After a time I went back to using normal shampoos and now my hair is the best it has ever been albeit silver.

Loads of co-wash products in the supermarkets too many to mention

I went through a phase of using phalate free shampoo when I was a bit obsessed with health and well-being a few years ago (I don’t know if this is the same thing).

One day I ran out of my phalate free stuff and had to use my husband’s cheap supermarket apple shampoo. And my hair looked so good I never went back.

I don’t know if that’s helpful or not.

I use conditioner only (although shampoo with a detox shampoo around every 10 days). I also cover my hair in coconut oil which I have warmed in the microwave and sleep in it every Sunday night. My hair was falling out after a bout of Covid - hugely, but the process above has given me the best hair I have had since I was in my 30s and I am 67 now and still have long, sleek hair. I still have my roots done every 3-4 weeks without any further damage being caused. Maybe worth a try although I can't guarantee it works for everyone

If you are wanting sulphate free shampoos and conditioners, a really good affordable brand is alberto basalm!

When I switched. It tool a while for my hair to get used to it, but looked good after a few weeks. Also a fan of a bit of coconut oil. I put it on 10 mins or so, before I am going to wash my hair.

XHC shampoo and conditioner from B&M or Poundland type shops.

You can co-wash with the conditioner but the shampoo is SLS free too.
