Pushing 40 - I’m too old for this aren’t I?

When I was actually young I had very little interest in what I wore and I am sad about it now!
I think I am probably just in mourning for my youth.

I like the fashion of wearing long stretchy boot and a shortish skirt. I’m too old aren’t I? I am size 6-8 but not that toned so probably still don’t look great.
id wear with black tights so I wouldn’t have my legs out.

Long boots and short skirts are a go-to for me. I'm 40.
I have some super high boots, mid-thigh, that I'll wear with over sized shirt dress kind of things and I think it still looks great. I feel great, so even if it doesn't actually look great then who gives a shit.

I went out with my daughter on Saturday night in a little black dress & red knee high boots 😁 and was complemented numerous times.

I saw a woman last week who looked to be 70. She had a shortish skirt on (hem was a few inches above the knee) with opaque tights and some chunky loafers. She had great legs and clearly wasn't going to let her age get in the way of showing them off. She really stood out, for all the right reasons.

You're never too old. I'm nearly 39 I wore hot pants most of the summer. I like following fashion and I don't see why it should just be for younger people. I'm more aware of what suits my figure now but I will always just wear what I want and what I feel good in. I don't care what other people think.

I'm 52 and my legs are my best feature so I'm not hiding them away.

I wear knitted dresses that finish above the knee and flat chunky or dressier heeled ankle boots with opaque tights all the time.

I've never been a fan of long boots and short skirts on me - for me long boots look nice with slightly longer skirt lengths but everyone has their own style that works for them.

I think that’s quite a dated look, so tbh I’d only expect to see it on someone over 40. Short skirts, long boots and tights is a standard groomed middle aged look.

I would wear this and I'm 40, six 6 and untoned. I wouldn't even consider not wearing it.

I don't know if the look is 'dated' or not as I'm not fashionable enough to know. But at 53 I kind of get what you mean. I wear it sometimes but always feel a bit like an older woman wearing the fashions of her youth, like ive not realised things change. I felt the same with mom jeans. I prefer my short skirts with opaque tights and chunky ankle boots, which is probably also 'dated' but makes me imagine I look more youthful.

I think it’s back in fashion now. A very recent thing. Last year dated. This year lots of fashionistas wearing it who I follow on instagram. Admittedly they are all a bit younger than me. But I’ve seen some great styling of this look on women in their 40s too.

I’m tempted for the first time in years…
