I have a couple of patches on each cheekbone - can hide with makeup - but would like them to not be so visible if I go makeup free!

any good creams/serums that you’ve found to work please?

Retinol or stong vit c - 15 or 20%, or retinol at night and vit c in morning maybe?

AND ALWAYS SUNSCREEN

If you want something prescription-strength, Dermatica have some formulas with hydroquinone, either with tretinoin or on its own

TattiePants · 22/11/2022 16:39

Agree with the previous 2 posters, Tretinoin such as Dermatica or Skin & Me and a vitamin c serum that’s at least 15%

princessbear80 · 22/11/2022 17:38

Yes I agree - tretinoin with hydroquinone. I get my via dermatica. I haven’t needed vitamin c as well.

This link gets us both some money off dermatica if you’d like to use it:

I tried all sorts of things and ended up having laser treatment. It wasn’t expensive and I’m so glad I did it. No one wants to be a slave to concealer!

Jungfraujoch · 22/11/2022 19:17

Thanks all - I’ll check the products out - thanks for discount code too / I’ll let you know if I use it!

Vitamin c capsules from beauty pie, they’re excellent

biedrona · 22/11/2022 19:21

Was it IPL?

@biedrona yes, I only needed two treatments, I was very pleased

GirlInTheMirror27 · 22/11/2022 19:35

Try using vitamin C in your AM routine and PM routine use Niacinamide based products. That is what has worked for me Smile

It's risky though. It can cause rebound pigmentation that is worse than before. And no one can predict who will be successful and who will get rebound pigmentation

I had 3 IPL treatments earlier this year. The first one removed 80%, but I felt like the following ones kept bringing up new, deeply hidden layers to the fore.
I've know got some rebound pigmentation, in new areas. Still, it is way more effective than creams.

@pocketvenuss i contacted several clinics, the advice was consistent: some people respond better than others.

but I’ve never heard of rebound pigmentation? Apparently worst case scenario would be no improvement

OrchidFlakes · 22/11/2022 20:24

Cyspera is a clinical range aimed at pigmentation. You could try chemical peels but you’d probably need a course of three or IPL. In my opinion (I work in this area) IPL is far and away the best option to try. A good clinician will test patch an area, and leave it to respond and heal before treating to see how your skin/pigmentation responds before proceeding.
depending if the pigmentation is sun or hormone induced also affects the outcome. Find a reputable clinic or get a referral to one from a dermatologist. Most over the counter or mail order creams rarely work.
SPF is essential from now, all day, every day without fail.
Good luck x

CurrentHun · 22/11/2022 22:18

Isnt this often linked to hormones? Might be worth looking into that a bit and seeing if there’s action you can take there or if things are likely to settle in time- could be different strategies to try dependent on what’s happening, eg what contraception type you use, whether you are pregnant, peri, menopausal, etc.

sleighbellssantasballs · 22/11/2022 22:19

Vitamin C oil good for this
