Are there any hair dressers around - Hair Dresser Colour Advice

I have all over hair coloured at the hair dressers every 16 weeks, with root colour in between. I have to use permanent colour.
It starts off nice and dark with a few caramel highlights going through but over time it gets really light and is almost blonde/ginger and looks quite dry.
why would it lighten so much?
Do different hair Types react differently to different colour? Do different colour dyes lighten more than others?I thought it was the sun lightening it but it’s not really sunny now.
just curious and wondering what I need to do next time I get it done to try and keep it at the colour I like.
i will ask my hair dresser next time I go but wondered if anyone had any advice in the meantime.

I'm not a hairdresser but have coloured my own hair.
What's probably happening is that when you have your hair dyed, the dye will contain hydrogen peroxide, even if the colour is quite dark. The colour in the dyed hair will fade gradually when you wash it. You can get shampoos that are claimed to be kinder to colour but I didn't notice any difference, but anti-dandruff shampoos tend to be harsh on colours.

Hi , I am a hairdresser there are a number of reasons this is happening .

Insufficient processing time .

Grey can be difficult to colour as the grey hair shaft is more tightly packed.

Excessive hair washing or using harsh shampoo products.

Perimenopause /Menopause can affect the hair condition due to fluctuations in hormones.

Medicines for a health condition could also affect the hair and hair colouring.

Have a chat to your hairdresser at your next appointment if she is a good hairdresser she should be able to work out what's causing it.
