Help please for grey hair - so dry!

Any recommendations please for something to smooth my grey hair, which is now very dry and fluffs out after washing (although it's pretty straight, just seems to increase in volume and not in a good way). I've tried conditioners for dry hair, which either do nothing or leave it feeling greasy, have tried diluting it in a spray bottle which works but does not last, have tried oils but they make it look greasy. Any ideas?

Before I went grey I used to use the Wella Professionals Hair Mask for coloured hair and as I have some left I still use it occasionally and find it great. Perhaps look at using the nourishing one, or the deep nourishing one and see if that helps. I have found since I've gone grey that my hair structure has changed and although I've always used Wella products at home this sometimes isn't enough and have recently been trying White Hot hair products. I have only used the normal shampoo and conditioner but really like them especially the smell as I don't always like the smell of purple shampoos. White Hot also do an Intense Lustre Mask so I might have to put that on my Christmas list to try.

Philip Kingsley elasticiser is good

The living proof mature hair range (called something better than that!) worked wonders on my mums hair.

Depends on the problem really, have you tried taking supplements? Would take months to see a difference but maybe you need them.

Grey hair tends to have a different texture to hair with pigment or coloured hair (colour plumps up shaft and smooths shut cuticle). If it's really big, a keratin straightening treatment can help. Or flat irons. Or just leave it and learn to love it

I swear by keratin straightening treatment, done at the hairdressers. It lasts for months and leaves my hair smooth and shiny without any more effort than a quick rough blow-dry.

This. Some hairdressers call it a “brazilian blow dry” but in UK it’s just keratin (much healthier). It’s fab. Near me hairdressers charge between £80-350 for it so shop around! (To be fair the £80 one was crap as they didn’t use enough of the product).

The waves come back quickly but it will give you glossy thicker hair.

I feel your pain, I tried loads of pricey different shampoos, conditioners and treatments with little change, but then read somewhere shampoo and conditioner with glycerin helps, so I've been using Simple and Treseme both of which are less drying and helped me be less frizzy! I also use opalex no 7 bonding oil, a little goes a long way!

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the recommendations, will work my way through those.

Anything with Argan oil seems to calm my hair, also organic shampoo and conditioner. . After washing I wrap it in a microfibre turban, bought from Wilcos. This takes the water out of the hair without rubbing the cuticles up, causing the fluffing.
I also take collagen supplements and have noticed a big difference in texture.

I stopped using shampoo and am moisturising like crazy. It used to be flat, soft, fluffy and straight and since cowashing it has more body and wave. At the moment I'm using Hairstory which is expensive, and if I have to I'll go back to conditioner.

Also using hair balm and oil on the ends.

My mum's hair has also been transformed by cowashing and has gone from straight to curly.

Thanks, will try cowashing, have vaguely heard of it but will look it up!
