Flat, lace up, cushioned ankle boots needed - Solovair experiences? !

After years decades of wearing elastic sided Blundstone boots, I need to stop wearing them in favour of something more supportive (multiple foot/ankle issues), under instruction from my physio.

So I am looking for everyday boots that are:
Lace up
High ankle height
Cushioned
Wide enough to put orthotic insoles in
Available in women's size 9. (Men's 9 is too big).
Dark colour

Not high fashion (i'm not), but I'm a big fan of chunky boots with an industrial leaning.

I'm thinking Solovair Derby boots, but am concerned that they might by too stiff (at least initially) and aggravate my injuries.

Can any Solovair wearers advise?

Or can anyone suggest anything else?

I have huuuuge problems with my left ankle after I broke it. So it has to be very supported. After years of DM's I bought Solovair in the Derby.
They are just wonderful. They didn't need breaking in at all and I have found them far superior to docs.

Currently my front runners,
My problems also stem from breaking my left ankle when I was 12. In the 40 years since, I have sprained it 6 times. I
Overpronate and have very flat arches. It's all a bit of a painful, hobbley mess at the moment!

I too over pronate and have a dodgy left ankle after a break. I highly recommend Solovair derby boots. I have the grain leather ones and they didn't require breaking in at all. They fit my orthotics and are deliciously comfortable for the start.

After a week of chasing DHL my Solovair Denby boots arrived this afternoon. Comfortable enough box-fresh, but I imagine they will only get more comfortable.. Peggy of room for the support insoles I've got.

My Solovairs are really comfy and didn't need breaking in at all. I'm planning on taking them on a city break with me. I have the 8 eye Derby.

How do they hold up? I really really want some but reviews on trust pilot are putting me off a bit.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads , I got some astronauts off e-bay, due in the next few days. I went way over budget Blush I'm hoping that they'll look as good as new.
I'm pretty certain they'll fit as I already have some in the burgundy rub-off.

Otherwise I'd be green with envy.

KirstenBlest · 25/11/2022 19:35

@Alertthecorgis , I have a few pairs and I love them. I tend to buy them nearly new, and I've sold off quite a few pairs because the sizing is all over the place.
I said astronauts, but they're the Toast jade boots. I love the burgundy ones so much, that I'm getting black ones too.

I've got these and they're like wearing slippers.

KirstenBlest · 25/11/2022 19:47

Grin why did I click?
They look good, @CherryogDog

These look splendid! Congratulations.
(And quite similar to mine! Although they're getting on a bit now)

@Orangesarenottheonlyfruit lol!! I said to DH this morning that I might get some burgundy laces for them.

KirstenBlest · 26/11/2022 13:15

My ebay Toast boots arrived, look new and fit well. They are not nearly as nice as the burgundy ones though, despite me having paid a lot more for them.

I too might get some bright laces - I think I have some red ones somewhere.

I had some 8-hole derby boots but sold them as I hadn't worn them. I sized down, but should have only gone down half a size. Unlike the boots photographed, they didn't have the DM- style stitching.

If you have a Pavers nearby, I'd pop in and try some on. They have loads of DM styles, go up to size 9, have loads of cushioning and are really comfy to wear. They also sell things you can shove in your boots to support arches.

We have a Paver's outlet store about 30 mins away. It makes jumble sales look organised. They have never had any women's 9s whenever I have been in, but I'll go for a rummage next time I am over there.
