I need to wear Class 2 18-24 mmHg compression tights

I have varicose veins, how glamourous! To keep them at bay, I need to wear medical grade compression hosiery, which I get on prescription. These take the form of knee high stockings. As a result, I never wear dresses, only ever trousers. So I am looking at buying some Class 2 compression tights, to free me to wear dresses again! Can anyone recommend where I could buy some, I found some online, at £95! Totally beyond my budget.

Are you currently wearing a compression stocking that might not be obvious under normal black opaques for winter even? I recently wore the white hospital compression stockings and they were fine under thick black opaques.

A pharmacy should be able to order them for you, I used to work for Boots and it was quite a common item to order....im not sure what the price is though as I left a while ago now!

Now that's a very good idea! It's certainly worth a try. I'll check with my local pharmacist too, to see if they can order some Class 2 compression tights that cost less than an arm and a leg.

Go to your GP and see the nurse. They'll be able to do leg measurements and order you them on prescription as made to measure stockings so they fit correctly (I work as a nurse at a GP surgery and do stocking measurements all the time)

When I had to wear one when pregnant they offered me black or flesh coloured on prescription and the black ones weren't that different from thick tights so could be ok?
