A 'costume' but not - ideas, please?

Name changed as this is very identifying.

My father passed away recently and he left me...his broomstick.
He performed a quick broomstick jumping ceremony at weddings for couples who requested it.
Although it has no legal basis, he started it, in part, as a result of his love of history.
Many couples chose my Dad to do this, sometimes outside of the church, sometimes at the reception. It was fun, entertaining and a talking point.

My father wore clothing similar to a morris dancer, with a large hat.

Eventually I am going to get my licence to perform non-denominational weddings, funerals and other gatherings/celebrations.

Hand fasting, for example, is increasingly popular and can be a legal ceremony.

Anyway, I can't wear my Dad's broomstick costume.
I need to look quirky, traditional, smart enough and I can't wear white.

My Dad's old uniform would not be suitable for me. Waistcoats are out, I'm middle aged with a 34J breasts and I don't like trousers as I have a large bum to go with the breasts.

So I'm looking for a dress or possibly top + skirt.

Please be mindful that I have just lost my Dad.
I'm opening clothing up to suggestions...

A waistcoat might be out but a simple corset with a floaty shirt under and a full skirt might flatter your waist, make it feel more like an appropriate outfit but also get into the spirit of things.

It sounds like a costume is exactly what you need. I don’t think you will find random separates on the high street that will give you the look you are looking for.

Search these pattern companies McCall’s , Simplicity and Burda
Search words LARP live action role play and Cosplay.

Phone your nearest sewing centre shop / haberdashery supplier and ask whether they have a list of local seamstress that can create your out fit.

Be preferred to spend hundreds for bespoke garments.

And sorry for your loss Flowers

Thank you @fortifiedwithtea, I understand exactly what you mean. I've never been into LARPing myself, though friends have. Some of those costumes are lovely. I will take a look at the LARP costume websites.
Watching Game of Thrones I often used to see one of Cersei or Daenerys' costumes and think 'I would love that coat/dress' etc.

I think that @winepleasenotwhine is closer to my scattered thoughts, I have seen some beautiful Steampunk dresses. Something like that in a paler colour would be perfect, with a good coat for colder days.

The downside of a corset is hiding my ridiculous bust.Confused
