I am sick of traditional bras

I am sick of underwired bras. It is impossible to find one which doesn't enhance my back boobs and is completely cotton.

T shirt bra's dig in round the back (yes I have been measured recently and have tried a huge range of bras) because I am now at the age where is am a bit dumpy and soft.

I think I want to wear Sloggi cotton crop top bras. They seem to give me good shape and feel supportive. They look so much better under tighter t shirts too.

They are also way less sweaty and I am of an age where every little helps in avoiding overheating.

What does everyone else do?

Im in the crop top gang too.

The only thing is what to wear with strapier outfits. Im not sure my late 40s boobs are as happy braless as they would have been in my 20s

I am having the same dilemma. Crop tops look nice bust wise, but I find the tightness/elastic under the bust worse...I feel sick a lot and crop tops don't help with this. Underwire the same. I've tried about three brands crop tops, all similar. Not sure what to do next, possibly just soft ordinary bras with large size round under bit.

I don't want to go braless, if I feel a bit sick then having boobs pressing on stomach isn't great. Also can get a bit sore. I think it's fab my teens do, they live in crop tops or no bra, but their boobs are not where mine are on my body!

I gave up the bras except for work. It does mean not wearing things that are rather tight, but at my increased age and weight, I'm not in strappy tops anyway. For work I wear the "comfort" ones that are still uncomfortable, but less so.

Uniqlo bra tops.

They have moulded cups but don’t have the tightness under the bra. Very comfy and still reasonable shape/support.

@OhBeAFineGuyKissMe thanks, they do look great, actually!

I get non wired bras from Dunnes Stores. They used to have some shops in the UK but I'm not sure if they do post Brexit. Should be available online but then again post Brexit custom charges will bump up the price but prices are very reasonable usually €10 ish.

I am quite top-heavy and I wear nothing but sports bras/bralettes. I've noticed when I wear regular bras (underwire) that I tend to get a lot more back/neck pain than with sports bras.
Underwire bras also poke the skin underneath my breasts and cause lots of irritation there, even if the underwire is completely in place, so I feel you.
worth trying some nice cotton Sport bras

Crop top bras. Absolutely no back fat and feel like my back is naked/nothing on. I forget I used to wear normal bras. Wear one a day and wash each day so healthy.

QuinkWashable · 13/11/2022 16:15

Same here - I've finally found some unseamed but thick fabric crop-top type bras (I am well endowed) which hold onto everything well enough that I feel happy to go out in public in them.

Underwires only for special occasions now :)

Headabovetheparakeet · 13/11/2022 16:45

Any recommendations for non wired bra or crop top that would fit someone with narrow shoulders, and a large cup size?

I'm a 32E and have never found a non wired bra that fits.

As well as the m&S soft ones I wear racer back low impact sports bras a lot of the time in winter when higher necklines hides the straps. It's so confy having thr straps higher and not on the usual place on the shoulder and they don't budge an inch.

I tried a Molke a few years ago as a yoga bra and hated it, the band was too thick and not stretchy enough, the crossover design made me feel lopsided and felt weird and it was deeply unattractive.

Me too OP - am exclusively in Sloggi Zero Feels nowadays.

I wear underwired bras and have no problems, I do generally spend a bit more on them though as I think that makes a massive difference....

My DD tells me young women are not wearing any bra. Not all young women but a fair few. It got me thinking.

I don't mind underwire bras and I tend to behave like a Pavlovian dog - when my bra is on I am ready for the day. During lockdown I often didn't wear a bra and wore a vest. It felt fine but no I couldn't go out like that - so conditioned am I.

Perhaps one of these soft bras is the answer..

Maybe they are the male ones LOL!
