Just that! What sells well on vinted?

OP posts:
WhyOY · 12/11/2022 19:29

Christmas jumpers

Claudia84 · 12/11/2022 19:40

I've sold lots on there but always with the mindset that it isn't making any money sitting in my wardrobe so I tend to sell things pretty cheaply.

I don't think it's the place to sell something BNWOT for a few quid below the bought price.

Chanel05 · 12/11/2022 19:41

I sold loads of baby clothes on there but had to sell them in large, cheap bundles to actually get rid of them.

ThatsGoingToHurt · 12/11/2022 19:45

Ive found that Frugi sells well on Vinted. My Jojo maman Bébé seems to sell slowly and Next kids clothes hasn’t shifted at all.

If you put more items on and the do a discount for bundles it sells better IME.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 12/11/2022 19:45

If you want to sell quickly it needs to be branded and priced with a good discount.

To improve the price you get make sure you include a picture of the labels, including both the size and the composition. Make sure your main image is really clear and if possible include the manufacturers image and description.

VisitingThem · 12/11/2022 19:49

I find Vinted a slow burn, although as PP says Frugi sells very quick. The thing is there is no timed auction so if you have the space to store stuff can just sit until a buyer comes along.

TheRookie · 12/11/2022 19:53

I tend to filter my searches to prices between £0 and £5 because posted really bumps up prices. I wouldn't buy cheap things from Primark cause it'd probably be cheaper to buy new from their once postage and wear and tear taken into account!

I have bought absolutely loads there for my kids though!

Next is my go to on Vinted for my rapidly growing 11 year old, I'm surprised at this!

As long as it's decently priced and you have good pictures you're in with a shot. Also try and be specific in your description so when people are looking for something specific they can narrow their search easily.
I also find that if it doesn't sell within a day or two then it looses traction, so I will add a couple more things to my account ever week or so and that gets peoples attention again.

staybyyou · 12/11/2022 20:00

Zara kids stuff sells well, and kids coats/winter gear seem to be doing well at the moment too.

asparalite · 12/11/2022 20:04

My opinion … good photos, with a description, labels type of fabric etc helps; obviously price is key and good brands in excellent condition.

SaintVal · 12/11/2022 20:05

Dresses seem to do well. Take decent photos on a wooden hanger.

amylou8 · 12/11/2022 20:10

Vintage stuff sells well. And anything a bit unusual. You have to remember that fees and postage for the buyer really add to the cost. If you've listed it for £5 it's going to cost them £8-9.

Tartifletti · 12/11/2022 20:10

For me it's a place to get brands I love but consider overpriced, at bargain prices, by buying lightly used clothes. E.g. Whistles sweatshirt, would have been overpriced at usual £75 price, worth considering new at £35, but I bought for £8 because it has been worn a few times. I wouldn't bother buying stuff which is more affordable when new, neither would I buy really beat-up stuff.

Lovemusic33 · 12/11/2022 20:13

I find the more unusual stuff sells well. I listed a lot a couple weeks ago including some Lucy and yak and a couple pairs of run and fly dungarees, these sold straight away and for good prices. Sold a few pairs of jeans and some bits that were still new with tags but lots of things just don’t sell well at all.

Iliveinanoodie · 12/11/2022 20:21

I've sold vintage dresses and jewellery really quickly, but find other things have to be priced really low to get any interest.
I've bought a couple of nice handbags that were barely used, and some sportswear, new with tags.

Claudia84 · 12/11/2022 20:27

Also, and this might be a completely personal thing, it's off putting to see photos of people in the item out and about. I know I'm buying it second hand but I don't want to see a picture with you and your mate getting sloshed in it.

MattHancockmole · 12/11/2022 20:31

I've sold kids stuff recently eg a coat by joules and some good condition Nike trainers but not priced highly. Priced to sell so £8 for coat and £4 for trainers hoping a few easy sales will get me a little money

Otterock · 12/11/2022 20:46

Vintage stuff

Lucy and yak

BedTaker · 12/11/2022 20:51

Whatever you do, please make sure you put up decent pictures of the item..

My Vinted pet hate is crap photos - I have been looking for a specific style of shoe recently and the number of items where you just couldn't see the shoe properly at all was unbelievable. Couldn't see the heel height, blurry, one total crap photo etc. Why bother in the first place, it's never gonna sell!

CheesenCrackersmm · 12/11/2022 21:28

Lincolnshire Sausages.

blueberrylace · 13/11/2022 07:40

I sold a lot of stuff on Vinted last year and have recently been buying quite a lot too.

My experience is that you need to price fairly low, even if it’s a good brand and new still with the labels on. And you need to time it right - summer dresses when people are getting ready for holidays and sequins when they’re thinking about Christmas parties.

As a buyer, the things I look out for are plenty of good reviews, clear photos and detailed descriptions. Sometimes I see items which seem to have potential and are well priced but I won’t buy if it’s just a couple of blurry photos and the description just says “lovely blue dress” or similar 😁

Also, expect people to haggle even on very cheaply priced items. I always make an offer before buying and see if they’ll accept or meet me halfway.

NotMyDayJob · 13/11/2022 07:58

In my recent experience list similar things at the same time and put on a reasonable bundle discount and people will be more likely to buy more things to save on postage. Eg I listed some maternity items separately and two buyers bought two and three items respectively, still only paid postage for a medium package. I do the same, sometimes the postage costs are not worth it for the very low value items, but if I can buy 3/4 babygros for baby DD from the same seller I can keep the extra costs down.

UglyModernWindows · 13/11/2022 12:12

I've had a mixed success at selling on Vinted. Couple of my Reiss trousers sold quickly as well as an old Toast t-shirt which sold within 5 minutes flat but it was priced at £5. However, a biker style gilet with a removable faux fur collar is not shifting at all. It was originally £250, I bought it half priced but have since lost weight and it is just too big for me now. It's for sale at £15, lots of favouriting but no-one's biting.

One buyer has been a scammer, well I don't know for sure but I reckon she was. Claimed the Reiss trousers I sent were significantly worse than advertised. These were a pair that I've worn maybe twice and washed once. They were like new when I sent them. I tried to fight it but she knew what she was doing and I just refunded her next. I've had some lovely buyers since but it does make you wary.
