Dinner in Paris (work dinner)

It's a sponsored dinner after an exhibition
I don't want to go but have to
I hate my clothes and and not stylish
Please dress me for dinner ! I'll be in a group so want to blend in but not be the token badly dressed English person. Easy for men. Shirts and bloody chinos.
During day will be trousers and branded shirt most likely. I'd like a dress if we can find one suitable or if separates recommendations then also fine
Thank you!

Sorry OP, I don't think that black dress flatters your figure at all. It makes your torso/body look very square with no waist.

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/11/2022 20:40

It's not black but is suitably conservative/classic for Paris (I used to live and work there) so what about this?

Don't apologise. I appreciate the honesty. I like the one you shared but if it's not petite it won't sit in the right place on me. That said this shape really appeals. One of the wrap dresses that arrived is kind of ribbed knitted and is ok but felt a bit precariously tied and like every bloody wrap dress ever needs a popper adding to it ! Or split to the navel 🤣🙈😭

Ok, I'm focussing on petite now (I'm 5'9 so this is a whole new world and is confusing the hell out of my laptop!)

What about this?

Petite wrap dress that looks like no danger of flashing (and the print reminds me of your dress you love):

Or I think you'd look fab in this (but we may have very different taste):

I love that geo print one ❤️. But is Paris ready for a short rotund Brit in geometric print?!

It's chic, they'll love it! Much as they tend to veer towards classic, they also love people who dress with flair.

Have a fabulous time!! (I envy you, I miss living in Paris so much).

I like the high-necked dress you tried! It’s elegant. Also the black velvet M&S one with the model wearing a blazer and sleek ankle boots. All the short wrap dresses are wrong - far too UK Christmas party.
