I remember her wearing that outfit, think it was Ralph Lauren. PD wore blazers a lot also which are fashionabl again now. I had the M and S version of her navy blazer along with pearl earrings.

I didn't care for the 80s fashion of season 4 but Diana looks curiously modern in S5 as the 90s look is still very on-trend. I loved the emerald green cricket jumper she wears in episode 1 or 2.

Most hoodies make me look like a blob. I'm slim with fairly wide shoulders, and I have boobs. Any logo accentuates the broadness.

RampantIvy · 11/11/2022 09:10

Being flat of chest I welcome a fashion where it doesn't matter. So many times I have seen a lovely top online then when I see the real thing it is too low cut or the neckline is too big.

Celebrate your curves.

RampantIvy · 11/11/2022 09:11

BTW I thought you would be able to wear a jumper with a V neck if you are more curvy.

lifeinmidthirties · 11/11/2022 09:15

Plenty on Vinted too ladies!

KirstenBlest · 11/11/2022 10:04

You can wear them whatever your shape, @RampantIvy , but the deep V with a stripe and the cabling would not look flattering on me.
The V pointing down doesn't suit me as I'm fairly short. The cables would make my boobs look bigger, and I am not curvy of hips to balance it out.
That's just me though - I'm a slim inverted triangle, 32C, and not leggy. My boobs aren't IMO big but that doesn't stop people telling me I'm busty.

I loved a lot of Princess Di's looks, but there were a few horrors in her early married days.

Floisme · 11/11/2022 10:13

I've not watched the new series yet - saving it for a weekend treat - but I think in real life, Diana's outfits told the story of her marriage: fun and quirky when she was first dating Charles, some absolute shockers from her engagement day onwards (a lot of them presumably chosen by advisers), then coming into her own after the divorce.

onmywayamarillo · 11/11/2022 10:14

I used to 'borrow' my mums Ralph Lauren cashmere v neck over sized jumper, and another from a french designer that had a fine cable knit.

We also used to wear a twin set cardigan done up back wards, with socks and loafers and an American football jacket. But that was 81/2

Electronicmind · 11/11/2022 10:18

I had a lilac one from C&A that I lived in. I don't think I was aware at the time it was Diana's style, it was just fashionable.

She got married in 1981. Everyone was wearing horrors at that time 😆

Not all of us Grin Diana's abrupt change of style after the Royals got their hands on her was grim.

Saw this on Vinted today and thought of this thread!

She looked great. The wardrobe in the series is really good too. The actress is a bit too skinny though and it’s bugging me. Do was slim but also strong looking

PeekAtYou · 11/11/2022 12:33

Can't see the deleted message but is the hoodie reference about the Virgin Atlantic sweatshirt ?

Housewife2010 · 11/11/2022 20:38

But it didn't have a hood.
