Protecting leather boots

Can anyone recommend a decent product to protect leather boots? I've bought some expensive knee high boots and want to try and keep them looking good!

I just use proper shoe polish regularly/the kind you apply with a brush then buff off

My mother uses mink oil to keep the leather supple, I use a kit from the shoe store. It has polish for the leather and polish for heel scuffs, then you buff it. Also has shoe freshener spray in it.

PS.Waterproof them, you can buy a spray or use vaseline in a pinch.

Yes, I'd usually use normal shoe polish but was wondering about some kind of waterproofing spray?

Unless you’re going to be paddling in puddles in them, I’ve always found just regular polish does a good enough job

What kind of finish is there to the leather? I use a saddle soap cleaner and protector on my boots. It has kept them perfect for decades

PragmaticWench · 10/11/2022 17:08

Thanks, I'll look at those. It's a smooth finish.

Saddle soap and mink oil are both good. Ok

Kiwi Rain and Stain Protector is really good and readily available. Great for leather and suede.

I use the Woly Protector 3x3 on all boots/shoes/bags that may get caught in the rain.
