How to stop feet sliding forward in high heels

Never used to be a problem, but now when I wear heels ( not very often! ) I find my toes bunching at the end and a gap appearing at the back. Some shoes are worse than others, but they are not too big otherwise. It’s really annoying as I end up not being able to walk properly as they slip off the back of my feet.
I have one pair in particular that I want to wear for my work Christmas party but they have this stupid gap at the back 😕
Google brings up lots of different solutions, so posting here to see if there’s anything people have tried that has worked. Heel grips? Insoles? Both?
Please help, the shoes have only been worn once and were expensive so need to improve their cost per wear 😂

Sounds to me like they may be just badly fitting but I'd try some grippy insoles that sort of create a little less 'upper space' as it were to keep your foot more in position!!

It could be your feet have shrunk slightly or your shoes have stretched. Did you buy them / wear them lots with hot feet?

You can try the insoles, or new shoes half a size smaller - ideally with an ankle strap that hold your foot in position.

Thanks! I’ve barely worn them ( only twice I think ) so they shouldn’t have stretched. If anything I feel like my feet are bigger, they certainly seem wider. I have been going to the gym more since I last wore them ( AGES ago) so maybe my ankles and heels are more toned/slimmer?!
If I’m honest they were never the best fit, they’re Irregular Choice so I know they can sometimes be an odd shape!

I’ve reached the conclusion that heels need to be a perfect fit or don’t bother - flats or trainers you can get away with being a bit big (and trainers are often best half a size up), but heels must be perfect fitting or don’t wear them.

id go with a different pair /new shoes. Sorry.

Have you tried party feet?

Oh that’s sad, I really love the shoes! I did contemplate selling them as they are still in really good condition, maybe I should just do that.

I find party feet tend to bunch up under my toes. Perhaps I should accept that I can’t really walk properly in heels!

I know this is a really old thread, but I wonder if anybody has any more recent solutions

Cydonia · 02/06/2024 00:18

Not me, I’m afraid! I never have worn those shoes since. I bought heel guards and party feet type things but still wasn’t confident. Hope you find a solution, I’ve just stopped wearing high heels!
