Period Pants

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Primark period pants?

The Primark ones are soooo much cheaper than other brands. It may be a daft question but I'm wondering how much that actually affects the quality. I've never tried PP before and don't want to shell out loads of money if I don't like them. ( At risk of adding TMI I am fortunate to have light periods which last 2 days usually if that makes any difference).

TIA

I can't speak for the Primark ones (but I'll buy some and give them a go), but we use the M&S ones (3pairs for £20) in this house and they are great

Chloefairydust · 09/11/2022 04:42

never tried primark, I guess if their cheap then I would just risk it and buy them.

I like the M&S ones, really good quality and you can get light or heavy ones

Elmo230885 · 09/11/2022 07:50

Thanks both of you, I'll maybe give the M&S ones a go instead.

I have the Primark ones. Not used period pants before so nothing to compare to. Some thoughts:

They’re comfortable and don’t feel plasticky.

I only use them on lighter days, even the “heavy” ones. They can’t cope with day 2 flow. No leaks, but feel wet after a few hours (I guess my flow is average? 5 day period, change pad every 4 hours on heaviest day)

They come up SMALL. I have 10-12, and they are smaller than a standard M&S 10.

I haven’t worked out washing yet. You have to rinse them after use but not soak, and they take ages to dry. So after use, I rinse them and then they just hang around being wet and dirty until I wash them. Anyone have better solutions?

In short, they work and are a comfy, useful option for the beginning and end of my period, but I’m certainly not converted to period pants overall.

Thanks for the heads up about the size. I think I'll look at M&S but if I can't get any I'll give Prinark a go.

Thanks again.

My m&s ones just go in the washing machine as is, and then are tumble dried with the rest of the underwear.

M&S Heavy Absorbency ones are terrible. The absorption pad doesn't go far back enough. Also there's threads coming loose after one wear - on each pair!

Swonderful · 13/11/2022 20:35

I do a 15 minute cold wash in machine with cloths pads/pants from previous day and then wash with normal washing. The cold wash removes most of blood and stops staining.

I have them and love them. Have also bought for dd she loves them too

megletthesecond · 13/11/2022 20:41

Are primark period pants back in stock then? They vanished in the spring and I keep checking for them but our large pirmark never has them.
DD likes hers for weekends and nighttime. She uses modibodi for school.

Elmo230885 · 13/11/2022 20:56

I spotted some in Scunthorpe which is a fairly small Primark.

i use the primark ones, no issues with them, they cope on my heaviest days

familyissues12345 · 13/11/2022 21:03

I like the Primark ones, but I never use them on their own - not brave enough! However I haven't had any usual flooding leakage since starting using them. I wish they were around years ago!

BretonBlue · 13/11/2022 21:04

Can’t comment on primark but the Love Luna period knickers from Sainsbury’s are very good and good value.

itsmeagainagain · 13/11/2022 21:05

I love the primark ones but they seem to have stopped doing them. I also have a very light flow and period lasts 2 days never had a problem with the primark ones. They’re a higher rise than my cheeky wipes ones and much comfier and cheaper!

Our local Primark has recently brought back the triple pack - I was a bit disappointed as I only like the heavy flow ones so would prefer to be able to buy individual ones (the triple pack has one heavy and two light/moderate)

pippinsleftleg · 13/11/2022 21:07

I use these which I bought from Amazon. I’m really happy with them, though I do generally have light flow

TooMinty · 13/11/2022 21:08

I have the Primark ones, seem good but I don't have any others to compare with. I have noticed that the ones I bought a while ago are nicer fabric than the recent ones, less shiny and softer.

tartlets · 13/11/2022 21:10

3 pack for £13 last weekend in Primark, they had a pack of microfibre silky material type ones for £16 I think but I went with the cheaper cotton ones because I wasn't sure on size, all good, love them- heavy ones for night work well as the absorbency goes all the way up the back- TMI but they coped with the morning flood as I got up too! I'll be getting some more, better fit than my cheeky wipes ones.

buonnatale · 13/11/2022 21:17

Also using the M&S ones and have found them really good so far - using the heavier flow ones.

Elmo230885 · 15/11/2022 15:39

Doncaster Primark had a few sets in very limited sizes today ( I promise I don't just spend my days looking for period pants in random.Primarks!, checked as I had to go to Doncaster for work ). They didn't have my size so I went to M&S and have bought those to try.

I like the Primark ones; they are great for nighttime and have definitely saved me money etc on pads. I wear them when I’m around the house too.
I still wear pads and tampons outside the house; changing period pants would be a pain and I don’t want to have to carry bloody pants around with me!

Elmo230885 · 20/11/2022 21:50

I must say I've been quite happy with my M&S pants. Glad I got them.
