MBT Trainers - leg toners or waste of money?

I'm thinking of buying a pair.

Are they comfy? Do they help tone your legs and bum? Can you wear them for general gym activites (Spin/Cross trainer etc.)

Oh good, I was going to ask about these but couldn't remeber what they were called.

Piffle · 29/01/2008 13:36

have worn for a year
no diff to bum legs or thighs and I wear all the time.
What they have done though is relieve back pains, sciatica and they even help my vicious SPD (10 mths psot natal)

I wear them, and love them. They have corrected my posture, and toned my bum and hips. They gave me a lovely shape for my wedding dress.

You can do gym exercises in them (on the cross trainer, bike, etc) but you can't do aerobics, play tennis etc - ie exercises where you are going from side to side - you trip over yourself otherwsie!

they sound great

but are so fugly i couldn't possibly

foxymagoo · 29/01/2008 13:43

ooh that's good to know as I had SPD last time round and still get twinges back and forward.

Do they take a bit of getting used to?

agree with Piffle - have had mine for 10 months or so, and wear them constantly. Haven't noticed much of a difference to legs/bum, but they have made a huge difference to abck pains. They really help sort out posture etc, and Dh says they have helped him too re aches and pains (he had knee surgery last year, and the whole shifting balance thing helps his knees not get too tired/stressed)

Piffle · 29/01/2008 14:05

I am under a physion though and on crutches so when I say help I mean it in thebarest sense as I have severe SPD, I mean they make it bearable not cure it.
I will not see proper benefits to MBT wearing until pelvis is realigned apparently.

But when I step down its like stepping into soft sand and cushions my footfall hence the comfort aspect.

They do sound good, I recently started a similar thread, about MBT sandals (sorry - not sure how to link to it, but its in Products )seem to get good reviews.

Piffle · 29/01/2008 19:30

The trainers are aesthetically dodgy tb, I have plain black ones and they are fine with jeans (my uniform of choice) not obviously huge MBT things.
The sandals hmmmmm I've seen them and they look pretty
weird
sorry
but if you don't give a flying figleaf about aesthetics then hey ho get me without a backward glance.
Do you live abroad? If not then they'll last you 50 yrs given the 4 days a year here in the UK when it's safe to wear sandals...
which will make them cheap shoes...
