I've not worn makeup properly for years, mainly because of babies but I'd like to start making more of an effort.

I used to have lots of benefit makeup, urban decay palettes, bit of mac for concealer and lipsticks. It's all well out of date now though.

What would you buy if you were starting from scratch? I don't know what's worth spending on anymore.

I'm 34, very fair skin, not oily or dry incase that's relevant to suggestions.

Makeup:

Clinique city block (tinted moisturiser and sunscreen)
Chanel vitalumiere foundation
rimmel match perfection concealer
dior rouge blush hologram
bourjois poudre de riz de Java
maybelline tattoo eyeliner terracotta (not sure if this is colour? It’s like light ginger)
chanel apricot eyeliner (on inner eye rims)
L’Oréal lash paradise and Lancôme Monsieur Big mascara
lip pencils chubby from Nars Sex Machine, Dolce Vita to others
MAC syrup and Cosmo
clinique quickliner grape
paw paw lip balm
stila kitten eyeshadow

i rotate most of above and have more but items like Dior red lipstick I rarely use ditto Bare minerals black eyeliner.

I use the posher items for best.

I have at least 2 chubby lip pencils (Nars and Mac patent polish) which were either limited edition or discontinued!

I have loads of eyeshadow palettes which I rarely use but have rediscovered old eyeshadows which I use.

don’t ditch the eyeshadow palettes or lipsticks!

use sanitiser maybe chop end of lipstick off and top layer of eyeshadow and they should be fine. Google how to sanitise them.

mascara, eyeliner and concealer buy new.

some items are better high end. I’ve never got on with cheap lipsticks/glosses.

eyeliner, mascara etc I’ll happily do cheap versions plus the highlighting powder but boots natural collection do good cheap items including blushers. When you see lawyers in Holborn picking this up before work you know it’s good! Rimmel concealer is the best too!

A good mascara. A good daytime lipstick. A tinted moisturiser/foundation, depending what coverage you want. Eyeshadow palette. Eyeliner. Concealer. Cheek highlighter/blusher

I am exceedingly fair, and annoyingly neutral since pale foundations appear to have either a yellow or pink undertone.

If you've good skin I really like lilylolo powder foundation in China doll or their cream one in cotton.

Illamasca do a white foundation which you can mix with most others.
