Frizzy sort of wavy hair

Can you recommend me something that will make me have nice waves not frizz?

I've tried curly girl with high street products and got nowhere.

Silicone free. Hair food. Frizzeze.

Or alternatively where am I going wrong?

Am menopausal going grey and growing out colour if that's relevant.

Thank you in advance

I don’t have a diffuser! As it dries it becomes fluffier and the curls drop to waves and the waves seem to straighten. It’s very soft silky and fine though there’s loads of it. I’d love to be wavy-curly!

I think if you tried a light curl crème and scrunched and then diffused it you’d get some really good waves.

@GuybrushT which mousse do you use, please? I find some of them dry out my hair, which is low porosity also.

My hairdresser told me to apply gel to soaking wet hair (not towel dried) and scrunch it in. Then leave it to dry. Then you can gently scrunch it when dry to get rid of the crunchiness if the gel. Leaves lovely smooth curls instead of frizz.

I find the John Freida Dream Curls range really good for my unruly mop. I use the shampoo, conditioner and styling products. I leave my hair wrapped in a towel for 10 mins after washing, then gently comb through with a wide tooth comb, put some serum through it and then apply the styling products. Depending on time, I like to let my hair dry naturally as this helps combat the frizz - I just scrunch it gently with my hands as it’s drying.

My hair has got wavier and frizzier as I've got older. A recent tip I saw on YouTube is to apply your products and then use the damp part of you towel to scrunch your hair to create waves. It seemed to work when I tried it. I'm still working out what's best for my hair but here is what I'm doing now: wash hair, put on conditioner. Wrap hair in towel after shower then when styling I spray with v diluted conditioner to re-wet, put in cantu curl creme, then curl jelly. Use more than you think you need. Scrunch with damp towel and the hover diffuse. Another tip I've seen is to switch the diffuser off while you pile your hair in, and only switch on after, so the air isn't blowing upwards. Haven't tried it yet though.

I think some frizz is inevitable if your hair is wavy rather than full curls but this seems to reduce it.

@ClaudineClare I use the Pantene Pro-V defined curls mousse - got it in Tesco.

Diffuser is a game changer. The ultimate hairdryer for the talentless.

Just be prepared it will look different every time.

If your curls are dropping I'd suggested firstly trying the diffuser and second going for gel. I like the look I get with mousse but it doesn't last in the way gel does.

Honestly the only way to get nice waves with this hair type is to first straighten it, then curl it with the straighteners or wand.

I have this hair type and the only way to get the bulk and frizz out of it is to straighten.

Products help to a point. I'd recommend Joico shampoo/conditioner or coco and eve. Leaving conditioner in for several hours and then washing out will make it very soft. A good hair serum before drying will also help to reduce frizz.

I like the Garnier leave in conditioner in the squeeze tube.

I’m another one hair has always been wavy and a tendency to frizzy. Since I’ve gone grey and grown out couloir it looks and feels dreadful 😧 I often wash and leave though so I guess I will have to spend a bit of time

After trying a gazillion products and methods..

Wash and condition with no silicone.. cheap Alberto Balsam as good as any
Blot with a towel but not too dry, comb through with very wide tooth comb and scrunch in some Boots curl crème.. the cheap pink one..

And then leave it alone for 15 mins while I do face, tidy up a bit. This is when curls seem to form and weirdly makes a huge difference.

Then gently scrunch and diffuse dry.

Absolutely no brushing. Ever
