The Never Ending Spot

I got a huge, beastly, swollen and very painful spot on my chin on 12th September. I remember the date because it coincided with a big work thing! It came to a head 3 times.
Since then, the patch of skin around it (maybe the size of a 2p coin) is rough and pimply. I've tried glycolic acid, not wearing make up and increasing water. Any other ideas?

I go old school and use a witch stick! Never had a spot that could resist. Otherwise tried and tested toothpaste?

Niacinamide from the ordinary.

Oh I have some effaclar, I'll give that a go! The original monster has gone, left a scar, but it's the skin around it. Nothing squeezable coming to a head but just bumpy and red ever since. It's like lots of tiny spots right under the surface!

I'll look at The Ordinary, I think my skincare is due an overhaul anyway.

I find hydro colloidal spot stickers helpful for that sort of spot.

I had what I thought was a pimple that wouldn’t go away. It turned out to be a basal skin cell carcinoma (skin cancer). Be on the safe side and get it looked at by a doctor.

Salicyclic is better for spots that glycolic as it dissolves in the oil and really gets in there.

Combination of salicylic all over your face eg Paula's Choice 2% BHA and a spot stick used very very frequently (more than the instructions say which tend to warn of certain death if you apply more than once a day)

Same here, I thought it was random pale spot/boil that wouldn't come to a head but it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma.

I would definitely get it checked if it's been there since September.

I’d probably not try anything too harsh, the skin is already damaged, just a very thick moisturiser applied a few times a day.

The absolute best thing when a spot appears is thoroughly clean with witch hazel then put tea tree oil on. It completely zaps them for me.

Aspirin is salicylic acid. Crush a soluble aspirin mix with a drop of water. Apply as a paste, leave overnight. Works for me.

(stick micropore tape over to hold in place)

I've been using effaclar and it's made zero difference! Half the problem is I can't tell what it is I'm supposed to be fixing- spots? Rash? Scarring? It's a mess- tried to take a photo..

Led light gadget is what you need. There's a neutrogena want that's quite cheap. I'd keep using that on it. And massage.

It's a hormonal spot btw, by it's location.

EndlessDust · 14/11/2022 07:40

It could also be bacterial now. I had a similar issue and my dermatologist told me to put antibacterial cream on daily for a week and it cleared right up
