Formal workwear

Well I feel like the world has largely moved on, and my current role means I can wear anything from jeans and a casual jumper to a full suit if I wanted to… but in 2 weeks I’m starting a role in what I think will be a more (very?) formal environment (infrastructure fund, if that means anything to anyone) and probably need to update my wardrobe.

Any tips on what women are wearing in more formal environments, and where to buy suitable items?? Thinking in particular heels, blouses, and dresses.

Hobbs is my go to for suiting, if that helps?

My work dress code is v smart (law firm). I get most of my workwear from Jigsaw - the suits are brilliant.

I’d add that trouser suits with oversized blazers and brogues are more trendy than pencil skirts and heels these days.

I think you can avoid suits and jackets if you want to. i wear nice dresses for meetings or get togethers but the days of power suits are kaput. I work for an international law firm and it's massively more casual now than a few years ago

Oversized trouser suits - big shoulders, double breasted jackets, with wide-legged trousers - are the most up - to-date but also worn as separates (jacket over dress, trousers belted with a knit on top.

Agree seeing few heels, lots of smart flats, some mules.
