Adding volume to lower face

jibbe · 04/11/2022 16:27

Is there anything that adds volume without going down the filler route?

OP posts:
krill · 04/11/2022 18:11

Where exactly?

Hydration if not fillers. Nothing else comes to mind for actual volume.

5128gap · 04/11/2022 18:14

I can visualise what you want to address? Most people don't want more volume in their lower face.
Do you mean plumping out mouth to chin lines?

GreenManalishi · 04/11/2022 18:22

Cake. Also works on your arse though but you can't have it all.

Lol. Getting older also helps.

krill · 04/11/2022 18:47

Cake sounds like a good way to do it Grin

VaddaABeetch · 04/11/2022 18:52

Cotton wool in your mouth?

jibbe · 04/11/2022 18:55

marionette lines def but under my cheeks also if that makes sense. Think Davina McCalls face for reference
Cake is also an option 😂

Isn't there a saying that as you age you have to choose your face or your figure as the face needs a bit of fat to minimise wrinkles? So genuinely cake is the answer!

FunnyCradock · 04/11/2022 19:13

Buccal hollows. Or flatteringly described as “skeletal face” by an aesthetics nurse I was talking to! This is the area you mean. Under the cheekbones.
Fillers or fat transfer are the only options to make any significant difference.

Don’t be scared of fillers. Done well, they’re undetectable. You only see the bad ones.

jibbe · 04/11/2022 19:19

Yes that’s it I look like a skeleton

Oh I love faces like Davina sucked hollowed cheeks make for a chiselled structure and look very French to me.
I'm imagining from the description that your face might be a heart shape or a triangle shape and you're slim or have a skinny face naturally...? If so look for hairstyles that add volume to the bottom half. If you are a heart or triangle face shape google haircuts and styles for it. Usually half up half down with curls to add volume down without widening the forehead area further.

What should would you recommend?

You could also try playing up with your blusher placement and contouring. The standard contour advise wouldn't apply to you if you have defined cheekbones and a thin prominent jawline so search something for your own shape.
I think curtain fringe and curls or beach waves, half up half down with face framing strands but not quiff, blusher on the apple of the cheek right at the centre instead of at the temple.... but look it up there are tricks seriously! look for celebs with your face shape and see what looks you liked on them. Sometimes even your neckline, if it's closed u, high neck, scarf, choker, they can add more volume to the lower face.I think headbands also distract from the bottom skinny half specially if they have a bow or some center gem or knot. Try deep side parting, too.

I think I’m heart shaped, slim (and if I eat more cake it doesn’t go on my face unfortunately)
will check out hairstyles thank you.

I had mine done in Glasgow by a plastic surgeon called Darren McKeown. I’m afraid his own face isn’t a great advert for his skills, but don’t let that put you off. He specialises in subtle work, and going to him remains the best thing I’ve ever done for my self confidence. I’ll happily go without makeup now, for the first time in my life.

Nobody has ever guessed or noticed. I look like me ten years ago, before I gained and lost weight, went through tough times, and my face fell off.

He isn’t cheap, but no fillers should be. Don’t go to a beautician. There are horror stories about what can happen - you need an actual plastic surgeon.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

I'IIve done thse exercises for a while now and they've definitely helped. Probably 10 -15 mins in the morning. several mornings a week. Downsides is there are so many different videos it's hard to see which to do but start at series 1.
princessbear80 · 05/11/2022 08:06

No advice re volume but I saw Davina in real life this week and she’s stunning! If I had a face like hers I’d be very happy.

jibbe · 05/11/2022 19:07

Thank you everyone 🙏
