My hair is like a birds nest

I have long thick hair. I dye it every month to keep the greys away. As I’m getting older (in my 40’s now) it’s getting really frizzy and more wavy. It’s hard getting a brush through it. Usually I wash before bed and put it in a bun. I hate how frizzy it looks and don’t know what products I’m supposed to be using. I have really sensitive skin so have to use stuff without sulphites, sls, parabens etc.
can anyone help me!!!

I can't have anything on my scalp other than Nizoral & the newish TGel with salicylic but I can use Tresemme 7 Day Straight Keratin on my mid to ends and it's a game changer.

It says use with straighteners but I find the hairdryer hot enough. It's just smooth with no effort. I'm evangelical after years of coarse horrid hair! Now I'm smooth! But still with movement

If you can't use sulfates, stay away from silicone. You need sulfates to remove it, otherwise it builds up on your hair making it increasingly brittle. If you've been using something with silicone in (won't be listed as silicone usually listed as something else so research ingredients) then you'll have to use something with sulfate as a one off to get it out of your hair.

Then stop brushing your hair. It may have been straight before but sounds curly now. Get a wide toothed comb, I don't mean the wider end of a normal comb, a proper wide toothed comb.

Comb your hair when it's got conditioner in and comb your styling products through, that's it, leave it be. If you don't use conditioner, start. Your hair sounds dry, which will make it frizz more.

Use some oil in it now and then whenever it feels particularly dry or becomes difficult to style.

You need mousse (lots, not a 50p size blob, a handful) and maybe curl cream too (small amount). I use mousse and coconut oil (from the world food section of supermarket).

If you use a hairdryer make sure it has a diffuser on it. Otherwise you'll get frizz.

Thank you so much - I already feel better about it!

I love Philip kingsley elasticizer. Pre wash treatment. Really helps with moisture and condition. My hair gets dry as it is coloured. I try not to use any heat or products other than treatment and hair oil. And let dry before tying up, as hair is more fragile when wet. 😊

My daughter suffered with terribly frizzy unmanageable hair, she had a keratin treatment done this week at the hairdressers, it wasn't cheap, but the results speak for themselves and she's so happy.

I use a little bit of oil on my hair before washing and a couple of drops all over wet hair after washing. Not on the scalp.
It works really well. Don't use too much though as it will look greasy.
