Rosacea recommendations

Hi all, I posted a thread a few days ago asking for suggestions to treat my face which felt tight and as if I had sunburn. On the advice of that thread I got some La Roche Posay toleraine and some cerave, but it isn't better.
The nurse at the GP surgery thinks it's rosacea and has prescribed a metronidazole gel and I bought some Eucarin anti redness cream but can any of you recommend something that has actually soothed your skin? Everything I put on just feels slightly stingy and doesn't actually cool or soothe.
The nurse said the gel could take 8 weeks to make a difference and it's driving me nuts because my face is sore, stingy and at the same time slightly itchy.
Am desperate here for a miracle product!

Just to update, I saw the dr today and she gave me a prescription for soolantra. So hopefully that'll do the trick. Thanks once again

How are you feeling, over a week in with the Soolantra?
I’m waiting for a prescription for it, I’ve just realised my bumpy face that flushes so much is suffering from rosacea.
Love to know if you’re feeling more comfortable, really do hope so.

ImAvingOops · 13/11/2022 19:41

I got the soolantra but decided to persevere for a bit with the metronidazole as the soolantra is for bumpy skin and mine isn't. I think the dr agreed to give to me to shut me up Smile
Things are a lot better but not perfect - have been using cerave and staying out of the sun too. My face is still a bit blotchy snd a little itchy but nowhere near as red.
I am keeping the soolantra for if I get a flare up with the spots. The metronidazole was making my face really dry but that doesn't seem so bad now I'm using the cerave as well and things are healing.

Oh I’m glad you’re a lot better. It’s so nice to know stuff works!
Im drinking more water and adding more olive oil to food to keep the dryness at bay.

Dermatica helped my rosacea - their formula includies invermectin (sp?) and metronidazole and something else.

Drinking sets it off though - especially red wine ☹️

I've been having laser treatments since September. From the first treatment I noticed a difference, now hardly any redness and feels so much calmer. For the first time in years I don't need to wear makeup to cover the redness

IhateMattHancock · 14/11/2022 21:12

Soolantra worked/works for me. And an SPF50 (LRP or Biarritz are favourites).

I also have a monthly laser treatment during winter which has stopped all face flushing.

MamaNell · 14/11/2022 21:42

I had a online consult with Dermetica and they prescribed me a serum with ivermectin and other active ingredients. Within 3 months my sore red cheeks and smooth and while not perfect much much better. The first month was 2.99 or something and then 20(?) a month. Totally worth it and I've just cancelled he subscription as I don't feel I need it for now

I have rosacea that got very bad and very sore

Initially the doc put me on a special formulation of his own that contained sulphur. For bad out breaks I took antibiotics.
Now I use this SPF daily. I also use their moisturiser and night cream.

Trying2bemum · 24/11/2022 20:32

I use this one.

Keep it Clean - 10% Sulphur Soap - whytheface amzn.eu/d/g0ePXFk

honestly cannot recommend sulphur soap enough! It smells funny but it’s amazing for your skin

My skin went a bit mad about 5 years ago with discolouration/ flushing/ bumpiness.

I stripped my routine right back and added products back in one at a time.
I'm still cautious but it's rare now for me to flush and my skin texture is normal.

My "safe products" are:
LRP Toleraine
Clinique take the day off oil cleanser
Beauty Pie Oil cleanser

Moisturiser: Evolve Daily Renew Face Cream

Serums: beauty pie HLA

Sunscreen - really really important. I wear it every day.
Ultraviolette Lean Screen

I used to use the LRP rosacea serum but wasn't convinced it did much.
I didn't get on with the Avene sensitive range at all. Nor the Toleraine moisturiser. In fact the only moisturiser I can use really is the one above. if they stop making it/reformulate I have a problem.

DewinDwl · 24/11/2022 20:50

The only thing my rosacea tolerates is e45. Sunscreen makes no difference in my case.

I once went gluten and dairy free for a few days (following a MNr's advice...) and it literally cleared within 48 hrs. Gone, after years of non-stop redness, bumps and soreness. Unfortunately I don't have the willpower to keep it up 🙈

Dogandducks · 24/11/2022 21:51

@QuicheQuoche Which Pia products do you use ?.

QuicheQuoche · 11/12/2022 19:16

Hi @Dogandducks Sorry for the late reply! I use the cream cleanser, the Anthemis moisturiser and the Instant Kalmer serum. Carbon Star is also fantastic for overnight if I can feel a spot brewing.
Light Fantastic face oil and the hydrating serum are also really, really good, I think the serum is called Back to Life.
The rosehip oil is amazing but I hate the smell so have to mix it in with moisturiser when I use it.

Catslovepies · 11/12/2022 20:36

I highly recommend the La Roche Posay Cicaplast over whatever moisturiser you use - it's helped my rosacea a lot and is recommended frequently in the rosacea group I'm in on Facebook and also by Sally Hughes. Check out the website whatsinmyjar.com to find out what products are irritating. For me, cosrx snail mucin has also helped a lot but your results may vary. Also avoid alcohol and spicy food and being in a room or bath/shower that's too hot.

Catslovepies · 11/12/2022 20:37

What I mean is put the Cicaplast on over your regular moisturiser...

Gardenproud · 12/12/2022 00:19

Its a minefield as there are so many triggers. If you suspect demodex, then you need to eradicate the mites on a 14 day reproductive cycle ( a bit like nits) An optician will easily see if you have a flare-up. Gritty eyes is a giveaway, together with pus filled red lumps in the mornings. Cliradex will sort it.

Best to seek professional advice to identify the problem though, I wasted loads of money trying to sort my face out myself.

ShandaLear · 12/12/2022 06:56

Soolantra. It’s not just for bumpy skin, it’s for sore, red, rosacea. It was a game changer for me.

Is the only thing that helped mine. I had to be v careful with everything I used and some products that were supposedly good irritated it. I was allergic to something in the Dr Jart range and it made it 10x worse

Doliveira · 12/12/2022 11:04

This cold weather has triggered a bout of ocular rosacea for me. Really won’t be going out playing in the snow!
