Non itch jumpers...help!

Tis the season of The Fabulous Chunky Jumper..and they look fab...however I have an allergy to wool (itch like crazy)..although curiously enough I cope very well with cashmere 🙂..would love some recommendations for non wool jumpers..I do have a few cashmere numbers I have picked up in sales but the chunky variety is always just too expensive. Not snobby when it comes to man-made fibres but aware these can be less sustainable and often bobble quickly

I have the same problem. I like cotton jumpers for the chunky feel, m&s jumpers , the cheap fine ones don't make me itch either

Thank you GettingStuffed..
I will have a look - just found a mostly cotton (no wool!) nice looking black Gap Chunky jumper on Next website.

Cashmere doesn't need to be chunky to be warm? Which is one of the many many reasons I love it so much.

Personally, I can only wear cashmere or cotton jumpers so don't have any chunky ones plus I find bulky clothes very restricting. But DH does have a couple of chunky cotton blend jumpers I think - so maybe it's worth looking at men's jumpers?

Agree about cotton but it isn’t as warm as wool or cashmere

Cotton cashmere or silk cashmere mix is the holy grail (although silk mixes won’t be chunky)

La redoute, Esprit and other French companies are quite good for cotton jumpers IME

Uniqlo have a great selection.

justasking111 · 02/11/2022 11:21

I have to wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath any fabric jumper

boymum9 · 02/11/2022 12:11

I've found M&S ones don't bother me and they have some really lovely ones this year

FrancesFlute · 02/11/2022 12:50

I have some 'Super Soft' ones from both TU and Matalan which are cheap and non-itchy. I would agree that they do bobble quickly and don't look as nice as knitted versions, however I don't wash too frequently as I always wear long tops underneath. Might be worth a try?

Cotton traders are good for cotton jumpers (I have the same issue with itchiness). Not always the most stylish option but worth a look - I got a jumper from them last year and it's lasted well

Can't stand wool either! Smells weird as well
Although I can do merino wool or a mix of merino and cotton. Bought a lovely one from hush and whistles recently

onmywayamarillo · 02/11/2022 17:16

Jigsaw do some lovely cotton fine knitwear too

Sprig1 · 02/11/2022 17:19

Take a trip to TkMaxx, they have lots of lovely jumpers. I picked up a cashmere mix one from there the other day.

Daisy62 · 02/11/2022 17:21

Uniqlo. Also I find I can manage wool or wool mix better with a thin long sleeved thermal top (Uniqlo or M&S) underneath.

Pandorapitstop · 02/11/2022 17:22

Lands' End cashmere jumpers are half price at the moment.

fernz · 02/11/2022 17:35

People Tree is usually good for chunky 100% cotton knits, although I've just had a look and their prices have gone up quite a bit too.

Monki is OK for synthetic. Anything that doesn't look "fluffy" usually holds up better and doesn't get so bobbly quickly.

LoobyDop · 02/11/2022 18:21

Another vote for M&S, they’ve got some really nice chunky cotton knitwear this season.
