Charity shopping for the first time; what fun!

Ok, bear with me. I know this sounds like I am Kate Middleton suddenly coming down from Windsor to meet the plebs, but I am really not. I just buy very few clothes as I WFH and very casual industry. Mostly buy Uniqlo, H and M or M and S. Never did much hunting in charity shops. But I went to a charity shop near to me today and was so pleased to find a couple of good finds, which I never have before. A pure wool jumper and a cool sweatshirt. Admittedly not really posh brands- just Zara and Superdry- but for a fiver each. Was fun hunting too.

Need to explore Vinted now; DS is an expert and scores Vivienne Westwood shirts off it.

It's fun! And great for all concerned and the planet! I love charity shops and Vinted.

Oh is Vinted as good as charity shop hunting. I so love a charity shop expedition.

I find Vinted a bit overwhelming but I know lots of people use it and DS appears to do very well from it. I am not a big brands person; I would rather buy something from M and S that suits me in a colour I like. But he likes brands :)

Yes I love charity shops and vinted also. It's good to raise money for charity, but I'm far more successful at bargain hunting on vinted. Charity shops aren't as good as they used to be, however I can get some decent bargains sometimes.

I love 2nd hand - rarely buy new! I get a lot of clothes with the labels still on from eBay and Vinted, at a far reduced price. I tend to only buy from quality labels where I know my size

I love both Vinted and charity shops. On Vinted you can search for what you want but you'll end up spending a bit more. Charity shops are more for unearthing things you never thought about buying until you saw it. Plus at charity shops you can sometimes try things on before you buy them. I've bought duds on Vinted though that didn't fit or didn't suit me but then I just resell them so I'm only out the postage really.

I love charity shops! Most recent Best Buy was a Hobbs leather bag for £3 and a Great Plains wool cape for £4...

I don't know what I did wrong. I have got a lovely sequin skirt from Vinted but last two sales from different sellers were cancelled as they didn't post them and didn't respond to messages. I got a refund both times but sticking to charity shops and eBay now.

Best fun ever!

Did you check when it was listed? If something's been on more than a couple of weeks I tend to message the seller first.

No, I guess I assumed it was like eBay, nevermind that's a good tip for next time, thanks.

Order things by when they were listed too. Then you get the real bargains!

I spent hours looking at Vinted yesterday. Am recovering from covid so it was a lovely distraction. Have you got any tips about using Vinted to best effect? Have seen the tip around the length of time but wondering if there is anything else. For example are offers the norm or do most people pay the displayed figure.

I've never had a good experience with Vinted, mostly this, although I was recentjy watching a dress, buyer messaged me to say price was reduced, I bought and paid for it straight away, and the seller cancelled it straight away!

As a seller, everything I've tried to sell, people have negotiated the price; tried to claim something was in poor condition after accepting it was all ok, but without sending photos; and I've had parcels go missing - Evri tracking has said it's at parcel shop, parcel shop hasn't had it when buyer went to collect it. Evri and Vinted not interested, since tracking says it's been delivered.

EBay was much easier!
