Skincare for tweens

DD 11 has been using spots and stripes for a few years but since puberty has started to kick in properly, it’s not hacking it. Generally her skin is lovely but she’s struggling with an oily t zone, particularly blackheads and congestion around her nose.

Any recommendations? I’ve looked at la Roche posay effaclar but wonder if the acids etc are a bit harsh for her young skin, especially as most of her face isn’t affected? Anyone got any experience of anything that helped this age group please?

Yes Cerave SA is excellent

@formulatingAresponse thank you, I’ll check it out

My DD’s skin is much better since using Roche Posay. For a while she had quite severe acne and eventually I got her something from the GP which was great. She tells me she hasn’t used it in ages and just uses the Roche Posay stuff I got her and she rarely has a spot now. I don’t know whether it’s just her hormones settling down or if she’s more organised about washing her face etc but it might be to do with RP. She was using Cerave before.

My older daughter uses La Roche and she has incredibly sensitive skin

Ok great thank you. I’ve heard good things about LRP but was concerned it might be a bit hardcore as she’s so young. But hopefully the ingredients are ok for young skin.

Try niacinamide and turmeric face packs, both of which have great anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and can effectively treat breakouts and smooth skin.

My teens (son and daughter) use Cerave which they both rate.

LRP was a game changer for my DD skin. She started using it around the age of 14 with no problems

Vohgue · 01/11/2022 12:13

Lrp effaclar for sure. It is geared for sensitive, acne prone skin

PAFMO · 01/11/2022 13:47

LRP Effaclar changed my daughter's life when she was 11. Totally transformed her skin. Cannot recommend it highly enough. The salicylic in it is the same as the CeraVe.
