Are there ANY boots that look good with wide jeans??

Trying to embrace eude leg jeans, they're super comfortable but look very casual. I like mine with trainers but I wear boots most of the winter.

I've tried all my boots, all just look wrong even the docs which I thought would work. Online they are mainly styled with shoes or trainers.

Is anyone in love with their wide Jean and boots combo?

Bumping as I also have this problem!

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/10/2022 11:09

Cropped wide jeans can look good with fitted knee boots with a heel

UnconscionableSnacking · 20/10/2022 11:10

I wore wide leg jeans and Docs all through the 90s; most of us did then!
What is it that you don't you like about it? I mean if you want it to look fresh and not-90s then obvs docs won't work. But if you're going with the 90s look that's around a lot right now it should be all good 👍

UnconscionableSnacking · 20/10/2022 11:12

(I personally can't bring myself to do it again, so I'm not trying to criticise, just wondering what look you are / aren't aiming for)

Snowpatrolsnowpatrol · 20/10/2022 11:13

What colour jeans do you have?

I’d have thought boots ok with dark/black?

Agree blue/light blue look odd with boots.

SoupDragon · 20/10/2022 11:15

I can't work out what boots look right either. In my head only chunky trainers look right.

J0yxPeace · 20/10/2022 11:18

I agree it's harder to style ankle boots with wide leg jeans. I am only 5'1'' so I can't wear too wide legg-ed jeans, so the boots have to fit under the jean now.

It's definitely harder to style.

I don't mind some lace up boots but bulk docs are horrible (just my opinion, but it's not a look I like (on me)

Ooh I love this look. Great shout.

I wore my doc's with flared jeans in the 90s, not wide leg. I can't find those type of flares at the moment but when I do, my cherry 8-ups (that I still have) are coming back out again.

I'm wearing "Ugg" style slipper boots from Primark with mine at the moment (I'm at home, not out in public!) and I noticed that they look fine.

buttons123456 · 20/10/2022 13:00

I wear converse lift or light coloured canvas type boots .. imo black and even brown. Leather looks horrid and dated !

Snowpatrolsnowpatrol · 20/10/2022 13:12

I have just bought chunky loafers. They haven’t arrived yet but I’m hoping they will work instead of trainers in the winter!

DoodlePug · 20/10/2022 17:50

Thanks for the replies, it's not just me then!

I dont mind the 90s look but really trying to be more current, I fear my taste has become set and I really don't want that so trying to experiment.

My docs just look too neat, they're blue jeans so think they look too casual for black boots.

After writing this I decided to take my jeans boot shopping, only had access to m&s and a small next but was at least able to get an idea. I feel they definitely need a good chunky sole and non-back and probably non leather.

There was very little of that description but there were some chunk Chelsea with a stitch round the sole which were pretty good, I didn't like the colour but the stitch made them more casual.

Was also eyeing up other people's footwear, obviously. One woman with what looked like very short docs, laced over the whole foot so higher than shoes and trainers but lower than boots, they looked great so I'll do some searching.

I do think wide jeans aren't really me but I'm trying to move outside my comfort zone and will only get there with experimentation, not everything will stick!

Wide jeans with knee boots make me think of 79s bands like Slade and the Sweet.

WinneyWasherWoman · 20/10/2022 20:57

Not exactly boots but I have high top trainers that look fine with wider jeans.

Agree all my black leather boots don’t work at all though

Leakygutter · 20/10/2022 21:03

I'm having this dilemma too. Even the retailers don't seem to know the answer, lots of their pictures seem to have wide leg jeans with bare feet!

Omgwhatthehell · 20/10/2022 21:07

I have a pair of Grenson Nanette boots. They’re the only boots I have which look great with wide leg jeans.
They are horribly expensive but I’ve seen some cheaper versions in M&S & other high street shops.

DeoForty · 20/10/2022 21:36

I wear my wide leg black jeans with a pair of black suede platform ankle boots. I think it looks ok. I've also worn with DM church boots which dresses them down a bit.

DeoForty · 20/10/2022 21:41

Having read your other post @DoodlePug I think the docs you describe are Church boots.

I agree! Or they 'helpfully' have the models wear flip flops!

ladygindiva · 20/10/2022 21:43

Block heeled suede knee boots

echt · 20/10/2022 23:00

If the jeans are blue denim, then black boots don't work I find. Any other colour bar grey is fine.

My wide leg jeans are above the ankle so RM Williams riding style boot does the trick. The whole boots shows.

echt · 20/10/2022 23:01

Should also say brown Blundstone's work well, either work-style or dress boot.

bellamountain · 20/10/2022 23:07

Leather boot converse. Only thing I've found that works with wide jeans and I'll be bringing my skinnies back this winter... I don't care what anyone says but they look ten times better with chunky boots and oversized shirt or sweater.

OrangePomander · 20/10/2022 23:11

I’m wearing canvas Converse-type shoes with mine and looking for winter ideas.
