Tummy tuck and lipo recovery

I'm booked in for a tummy tuck and lipo next month after losing a lot of weight. I've bought some compression garments and long nighties. Could anyone tell me what the recovery will be like I'm getting nervous but very excited.

I’m also booked in for the same in just over 2 weeks!

If you haven't already get your self over to the realself forum. Loads of reviews and help on what you will need. You can even look up your doctor and read reviews from past patient

ChocChipOwl · 19/10/2022 10:09

Well, it varies but I'd say I was horribly rough for 4 days and then I turned a corner and could stand up straight

It was then slow and steady improvements every day and I'd say I was normal ish by 6 weeks

I did have 12lbs removed though and a 270 degree incision with lipo so it was quite the operation!

Fantastic results though.

About 6 months. Haemorrhaged and had to have transfusions , blew up with massive internal fluid-filled sacs.

obviously I was in the minority - but just to let you know, not everyone is out doing 10k runs a week after.

Mercurial123 · 19/10/2022 11:59

My friend said giving birth was a breeze compared to enduring the procedure and recovery was tough. Needless to say the company involved didn't use her review.

Aww sorry to hear that I hope you are ok now . I'm hoping to be back at work as a HCP 6 weeks after 😩 I hope all goes well.

I've got a couple of consultations next month :) I;m feeling a bit giddy about it now!

peaceandove · 21/10/2022 15:50

I had an extended tummy tuck + liposuction 16 months ago. I was walking fully upright within a week. Back at work after 3 weeks. No problems. Honestly, it was virtually painless. I had 2 c-sections and remember they were far more un comfortable.

I explicitly asked my surgeon for a naturally flat looking tummy and a slightly curved waist (was totally boxy before) because I'm 52 and didn't want that ridiculous snatched waist look, at my age.

So, possibly he didn't stitch me as tightly as others, but I'm thrilled with the end results.

I’m 6 days post op and it’s been brilliant. Had my check ups and all healing well. The night and day after are a blur but I was up walking quiet soon. I stopped the coedeidine on day 3 as it was way too strong, made me feel really nauseous and have been taking regular ibuprofen and paracetamol. Recovery nothing like I dreaded but staying hydrated is definitely something to stay on top of.

3 weeks in. Best thing i have ever done. My scar is 53cm and he took 2kgs off my stomach. He injected 200cc into each boob, which has taken a decade off their age, while they still look natural.

My stomach is still puffy under the corset the hospital gave me. But my profile is amazing. I was 75kgs and 166cm. 3 weeks later I am..still 75kgs but I definitely have swellingand was 78kgs with that the first week after. I will get silicone patches for the scar at week 5ish. Will move to spanx style in 3 more weeks. I am using a Colombian brand.

I was back WFH 10 days after. Only doing 3k steps aday BUT actually danced on day 16 ( stupid and spent two days in bed after that stupid, renegade night out. Cabin fever).

I'm going to book this next year. Any recommendations for where to go? UK only please.

schmalex · 09/12/2022 18:45

There's an excellent Facebook group called UK tummy tucks, liposuction and cosmetic surgery forum that will help you out @wakk.
I went to Bella Vou in Kent for my TT and couldn't fault them. I was slim but had loose skin and a bad muscle separation that wouldn't right itself with physio. The TT sorted me right out and now I'm bossing it in the gym! I had mine 18 months ago.

Thank you, I'm about a stone overweight but will try and lose it. I've got loose skin that I would love to be taut!

Horrendous and I’ve had a lot of stuff done. Bent double for weeks, walked funny for months, long term back problems. Be careful who you go to. I went in the uk and still got botched.

Update I had an FDL tummy tuck with lipo to flanks backs, mons lift and lipo after a huge weight loss I'm 16 days post op. The scars are very thin and my tummy tuck one is very low. I felt I had been ran over the first 10 days I think I've been trying to do too much. I've just rested the past few days apart from walking to the fridge and loo. The swelling has gone down a lot. Im standing straight that started about 4 days ago and I can walk straight for a while.
I'm ok just had ibuprofen today, the only complication I've had so far is becoming severely constipated because of the pain meds. I had lactulose and later on an enema as it was completely stuck. Get constipation stuff before you go !!! Don't try to push yourself too much either. I would no way have this op if I had very young kids.

Eatentoomanyroses · 09/12/2022 23:51

Oh yes I forgot about the constipation! I had so much lactulose. That stuff is gross.
You definitely can’t do it with little ones. You can’t lift for a good while. Mine was 5 when I had it done and it was hard. I had to get taxis to the school round the corner to do the school run.
hope you recover well

Touty · 31/01/2023 09:03

Hi - are the results of tummy tuck permanente? I went to see surgeon yesterday who said possibly not.

I have two rolls of belly fat, one upper and one lower.

is the scar permanent and always visible?

Thingshavebecomeweird · 31/01/2023 09:14

My tummy tuck was the best think I have ever done in my life. 6 months after, he tidied the edges over my hips as I was still puffy in that area.

My scar is 53 cm. Yes it is still a scar but it is below my bikini line. Seriously, just go the best you can afford and research all their reviews on their site and on FB

Meili04 · 31/01/2023 09:25

I think I'm two months post op ? Feel completely fine now been back at work pounding the 12.5 hour shifts. I'm really pleased with the mons lift most of all my fanny has been hoisted up loads 🤣 Tummy completely flat only hurts a little when I sneeze not much though. I'm still wearing spanx when I go to work to prevent any swelling which is uncomfortable. I'm happy with my results , I need a lower back lift/ bum lift at some point but I'm going to wait a while. Recovery was was tougher than I expected. I do have scarring but it's thin lot less bad than having a saggy apron. I can wear any length of t-shirt now before I was trying to hide the fupa.

@peaceandove would you mind telling me what surgeon you used? So glad you had a good result
