Hairdryer Recommendations?

WestrayWife · 18/10/2022 13:04

I'm in the market for a new dryer and keen to know what you all use / rate.

Not interested in Dyson as that's the one I currently have (bought 6 yrs ago when they first came out and it's now on its last legs).

Is it worth spending good money on a drier or would a £25 one from Boots do the same job?

Any recommendations? Parlux? GHD? Remingtons? The Sunday Style pages are fawning over the new Hershesons one...but it's really pricey and I'm loath to be stuck with another expensive hairdryer that doesn't last / isn't worth the hype!

I have thin, flat hair in a shoulder length bob. Have zero blow dry skills and no patience to dry. I rely a lot on my straighteners to style / calm! Tried one of the hot air brushes but wasn't a fan - no coordination!

I’ve got a Parlux and love it. It dries my thick unruly hair so it’s smooth quite quickly. I generally blast it dry then straighten but it’s so much easier when hair is smooth.

I’ve had cheaper hair dryers in the past but wouldn’t go back!

Cloud nine user here and no complaints

@Shallysally is your Parlux one heavy? I've read they can be.

Yes, Parlux are heavy but you get used to it. A bit like Dyson vacuums!

WestrayWife · 18/10/2022 15:04

Thanks @Iwishmynamewassheilah - I think it would probably help build up my abysmal arm strength in that case, lol.

What model of Parlux is worth looking at? There are so many Confused

I'm going to get a ghd one. I used my sister in laws and my hair felt lovely. I get quite a bit of flyaway hair as well

Shallysally · 18/10/2022 17:24

I’ve got the parlux 3000

Yes they are heavy, I need a rest sometimes 😂

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 18/10/2022 21:51

Mine is the 3200 Compact

GHD Helios hairdryer is a game changer - worth every Penny!

I knownyou said no dyson, so sorry...but I have the airwrap and it's great. I have thin, fine flat hair which is v flyaway. Airwrap dryer to rough dry, then the thin barrel curler to finish, then brush through = swingy, bouncy Kate Middleton (ish) waves. Lasts all day. I have never ever had hair with bounce or movement. The other attachments are useless for me but the curlers are amazing for quick easy styling and drying. Takes max 8 mins start to finish (my hairs is v v fine so dries super quick).

I love my parlux compact. Ive had it for about 10 years and I wash and dry my hair everyday and its still going strong.

WestrayWife · 19/10/2022 20:11

Thanks all - Parlux compact seems to be popular.

I’ve got a Parlux and it’s pretty good but the nozzle drives me nuts. I’m not sure if it’s just mine, but the nozzle falls off all the time. I’ve heard good things about the GHD and am tempted to switch to one.
