So I’ve never had anything professionally done to my eyebrows - I’ve always plucked them, occasionally trimmed an errant hair myself. As I’m getting older I think I could do with looking a bit more groomed and in photos I sometimes think my eyebrows look a little wild. 😅 They’re jet black if that makes a difference. I’m clueless about where to start - what kind of place should I be visiting? What are the options? I like looking natural so I definitely don’t want anything extreme. Any one guide me through?!

I get mine waxed and tinted but I have some white hairs in my brows so maybe you'd just need them shaped by waxing or threading

martinlily · 17/10/2022 10:03

I also get my brows waxed and it's an amazing experience. The result will remain for a long time.

I wouldn't wax them it ruins the delicate skin on the eyes.

Threading is better.

sonsmum · 17/10/2022 16:17

I had the opposite. Had been fine with waxing, however threading caused me to have a bout of eyelid eczema that was hard to shift for a while. Will never have threading again, it was brutal!
Whatever you do, go for the natural look, not the painted on slug look!

Suttonstracke · 17/10/2022 16:54

I’m so scared of the slug look it’s putting me off!
Here’s a pic - what do you reckon I should do?

If you click on picture you should see the whole thing rather than the hideous close up of my skin!!

I've been through a bit of a revoution recently and found that getting rid of all the eyebrow mascara's and just going with a regular professional shape and a tint at home does the job far better.

You don't look like you need anything other than a decent professional shape.

userwants2no · 17/10/2022 17:19

Brush them up and then use little scissors and trim them.
Use clear gel or eyebrow soap to shape them. Natural bushy eyebrows are in fashion. I don't think you need them dyed. Remember the saying: eyebrows are sisters not twins.

Just go for a basic eyebrow natural shaping at a salon, so you get rid of the stragglers. Then you can keep up the maintenance yourself with tweezers at home. Your brows will look really good with a bit more shape. You don't need all the added extras that will turn them into slugs!
I'd recommend to go professional at a salon for the initial shape and then it's up to you if you go back or maintain yourself. If you are not very confident, I don't recommend you try to tidy them up yourself in the first instance.

Get them professionally shaped, jobs a goodun

caroleanboneparte · 18/10/2022 17:45

Watch brow videos on you tube.

Get the equipment:
Straight ended brow brush and eyeshadow that matches your eyebrow hair colour.

Use an old clean mascara wand or buy a brow brush and brush all the hairs up.

Use a pencil to see what you should pluck. (Watch video)

After plucking fill in the gaps with the shadow.

Then use a clear mascara to brush them down from the top into a nice shape. (You may need to trim some with sharp nail scissors.)

If it's a disaster then go to a salon. (But I wouldn't trust them not to make you look like a doll or push expensive products/ services on you)

I've gone grey and my eyebrows are much lighter than yours. I have them threaded into a natural shape and then use an eyebrow pencil to give them some colour. Cheap and cheerful and works for me.
