Best brands for great patterns

I LOVE good/interesting/unusual/quirly patterns on clothes. Any suggestions that I may not know of, that are not below?

  • Jolie Moi- I love the dresses, most are occasion wear but I got a few pieces off sales that are really good not just for weddings and have lovely unusual patterns
  • Love & Roses (is it a Next sub brand?)- some lovely shirts and dresses as well
  • Lindy Bop/Lady Vintage- late to the party as Lindy Bop no longer exists, but I had a good look at vinted and found a few lovely pieces
  • I have had some good luck with Monsoon/Next/Phase Eight via vinted as well
  • Roman Originals (loads of styles not my cup of tea, but managed to find some lovely pieces as well)
  • Mylene Klaas (sp?)
  • Emily and Fin - sadly the sizes are to small for me, so had to give it a miss, but I love the cuts and the patterns

Joe Browns sadly does not make the cut anymore, I used to love their clothes but the prices shot up and the quality shot down...

The label Izabel London has had some interesting patterns in the past. Used to be in Debenhams but now just online I think

La Double J.

I do soooo much fantasy shopping on their site. Can't afford any of it - but it's great for inspiration.

Can you sew?

Lucy and Yak do loads of mad patterns!! They make more than just dungarees, in a wide range of sizes.

Monki. I think they may even be owned by H&M. They have lots of patterned dresses, some very abstract/bright colours.

Go on Vinted and search William Morris
you’ll get some lovely printed clothes options. Mainly William Morris style but still

Finery do some lovely geometric patterns (very Prada) if that would float your boat!

Catslovepies · 17/10/2022 09:02

Anthropologie has beautiful patterns but high prices too, so look for second hand pieces on Vinted.

januarysalesmania · 17/10/2022 09:09

Definitely Monki. They have amazing patterns and colours, and cover a good range of sizes.
I bought a jumper from Never Fully Dressed last year that has a beautiful pattern.
I also second Finary, lovely stuff.
Joanie is similar to Emily & Fin, and I think goes up to a reasonably large size.
Sugarhill Brighton has some lovely prints.
Personally I love 80s prints and colours so hit the charity shops and vintage shops / markets.

januarysalesmania · 17/10/2022 09:12

Oh and have a look at Wolf and Badger, who sell lots of smaller / independent designers. They have some really expensive stuff but they also have more reasonably priced stuff (Sugarhill Brighton for example), and it's fun looking through the website and imagining yourself on a red carpet somewhere 10 dress sizes smaller with fancy hair Grin

TheHound86 · 17/10/2022 09:46

Lucy and yak. I wear something of theirs most days.
Also Sugarhill Brighton have some great stuff. I’ve got a couple of dinosaur jumpers.

I have had a look around and found lovely lovely second hand items from WHite Stuff, a top from Never Fully Dressed (even second hand on some of those was very pricey, same with Popsy, I love second hand stuff but would not pay £35/40 for a second hand polyester dress that bobbled) and Seasalt Cornwall.
I also shopped on Joanie's sales, lovely items, I just wish they would accomodate bigger chested ladies!
