Birthday present ideas for mid thirties DDIL please

Hoping for some birthday inspiration for presents for my dear DIL please. I’ve asked her and her DH (DS), but no suggestions other than she would like to ‘do’ something. She works v hard and they have a toddler, so she doesn’t really spend much on herself. Up to £200 to spend.
thanks in anticipation!

What about a wee hamper, some wine chocolate, face mask, perfume and a gift card to treat herself to new clothes or make up? I know being in my 30's id be over the moon with that xxx

Cookery class? Get it for 2 people and she can take a friend?
afternoon tea?
spa day?

Since this is in S&B I’m presuming that’s one of her interests - maybe a posh spa treatment, or even a dinner with her DH with you (if possible) babysitting the toddler? That way she has a special treat that she wouldn’t usually give herself plus some relationship time which is truly on the back burner with a toddler!

Could you offer to pay for a night in a nice hotel for them? Even better if you can offer to babysit!

How about a personal shopping appointment (John lewis do them) with 200 to spend on whatever she chooses and babysitting while she attends?

Some really great ideas here, thank you!

A high quality item she would use in her day to day. E.g. if in the countryside and doing lots of walks, some nice wellies.

I give people the same brief as I have all of the "stuff" I need (mid thirties with a baby).

Things I'd like are:

Flower subscription, so I get flowers every month not just my birthday. Bloom and wild are good.

Spa day or afternoon tea

Terrarium making class/workshop

A nice meal out

Tickets for somewhere we can go as a family. Or an annual pass for something I can do with the baby.

Personal shopper with a budget for clothes.

Hope some of that is helpful!

Yes, something like this.

I think the issue with hampers etc is that they can be a bit hit and miss, and vouchers can sit in a drawer and never get used.

My MIL is into wild swimming, so my SIL’s clubbed together and got her a great quality dryrobe. A SIL was going travelling so for Christmas I bought her a great backpack and packing cubes.

A really high quality item which she’d use day to day or for a hobby would be my go-to.

-Nice meal out

-Fave perfume

-I recently got a 2 night stay at a spa hotel (cost £99 on Wowcher, I saw it because my mil needed help purchasing it for us). Was lovely while she looked after our ds..

  • a nice afternoon tea somewhere

Thank you all so much. Some really great ideas. Things we have bought her in the past include; flower subscription, spa day, afternoon tea on heritage railway line, wreath making workshop etc Some ideas you have suggested that I’m going to look into include a hamper, a 12 month pass she can use with toddler, cookery class, babysitting whilst she/DH go to spa or hotel/meal, nice backpack/daysack, personal shopper and terrarium making class (which I had no idea existed!). So thank you for the fab ideas everyone!

A gift voucher for Space NK or somewhere that dos fancy makeup. Charlotte tilbury?

Percypigmystery · 17/10/2022 12:09

Thanks again everyone. Inspired by your suggestions I have arranged a colour analysis session for DIL (checked with DS who thought she’d love it). I had my colours ‘done’ several years ago and it was really useful.
