Is expensive handwash just money down the drain?

I get really dry hands every winter. I have discovered O'Keefes working hand cream both day and night versions. But would an expensive handwash help? At the moment I'm just using dove which is nice but are there any fancy handcrafts which would help? Basically after O'keefes working hands in a hand wash haha.

A bar of soap. Take the time to dry hands.
I occasionally do a hand cream soak. Put a LOT of cream, then wear white cotton gloves for 15 min, remove gloves - that will also remove most of excess cream - add a few drops of pure rosehip oil, massage and pull excess cream towards forearms. Done , lovely soft, baby hands.

@sandytooth i use a soap bar insert thing I picked up at TK maxx for $3 for 3. It’s like a plastic mesh thing.

I used to use a sponge with a scouring pad cut to size. Soap goes on top of the scouring pad side. Scouring pad was used when the childrens hands were particularly dirty.

Thank you @Aintnosupermum. Seems a trip to tkmaxx is in order!

I suffer from terrible eczema on my hands. I buy a big bottle of LRP Lipikar bodywash and decant it in to handwash dispensers and use that - it's really helped. I've replaced the kitchen soap with Nursem soap which I buy from Lloyd's Pharmacy online, it's usually on offer buy one, get one half price, again this has really helped with my dry skin and eczema.

The only handwash I would recommend is Space NK's Voyage Uplifting one because it is worth much more than its' price. It gently exfoliates and really softens. The fragrance is gorgeous - mandarin, coconut and sandalwood. I have been using it for a year and won't ever go back to the regular chemist/ supermarket brands I used before because this handwash really makes a difference.

Another vote here for real soap. Goats milk soap or Grumm.

Goats milk soap here. It's lovely and creamy. Doesn't make me itch. A bar lasts weeks. Whereas the usual soaps, imperial leather, pears, just dissolve away

Get a cheap pump pot of aqueous cream, it is a very good soap substitute for hand and body and very moisturising. Just use it as you would with liquid soap and wash it off and you can always add more once your hands are dry.
