Under eye hollows/dark circles advice

Name changed just in case my face is outing 😅

But does anyone have any advice on the best way to tackle hollows/dark circles under the eyes? I've had them all my life, so I'm assuming it must be a genetic thing, combined with pale skin, just makes them really obvious

I've tried all sorts of concealers, which doesn't really help, and they just seem to be getting worse as I age. I'm quite self conscious of it as I just look knackered all the time

I've heard that tear trough fillers might be the best way to go? Or Botox? I don't have any experience in either, so I'm not really sure where the best place to start would be. I'm 35 if that's relevant

Ignore the reddness, I've just plucked my eyesbrows Blush

I've got the same hollows - genetic and getting worse as I get older. I have considered tear trough fillers and have seen some good results but I'm too nervous to go ahead.

The only things that help me are keeping the area hydrated, a good corrector and a concealer that's not too light. I see a lot of tutorials where they use a concealer a few shades lighter than their foundation shade but for me this makes it look worse. I also find I look better when I use a gradual tanner as the contrast lessens but I don't always keep up with it.

Ah thank you @UpToonGirl I might have a look at tear trough fillers then, I just don't know where the best place to go would be! I'll look into the tan thing as well, though I don't usually wear tan, as it ended up a disaster the last time I tried

I also have a foreo bear, only bought it last week so early days yet, but I don't think it would help with the hollowness. It's so annoying!

I would probably be more likely to try the fillers if I had a good recommendation but I don't know anyone who has had them in my area.

I got the bear as well (and an LED mask) but got out of the habit of using them. It's so frustrating as when I'm having a good skin day and feel fine without makeup I still look rough because of the hollows!

I feel exactly the same. The rest of my face is okish, it's the the bit under my eyes that I have the most problem with

I have these and terrible dark circles.

I think tear trough fillers are the way to go, but I don't think I'd be brave enough..

I also find that a tan helps a lot, so I'm using tanning drops with my moisturiser.

Mine are similar, v pale skin with light rather than dark circles that highlight the hollows - I use a tiny bit of fake tan just under my eyes slightly onto my cheeks, it makes a big difference, like an optical illusion. Think it was a tik tok video recommendation.

I had a tiny, tiny bit of tear trough filler about four years ago. I was just thinking that I'm going to top up this year. The only thing I would say is definitely be choosy about who does it and be prepared for the fact you might bruise - it's a very hard area to inject without hitting blood vessels.

Marmee53 · 12/10/2022 21:29

I have really bad dark circles and hollows, much worse than yours.

I'm only 26 so I don't even know why they're so bad, I guess they've always been that way.

I use the Huda Beauty concealer and honestly it works wonders. Make sure you use a good translucent powder afterwards too. I use the Too Faced born this way one but there are other good ones.

I’ve found the Tom ford concealer for men the best, applied with a brush.

Spareline · 12/10/2022 21:58

Beauty Pie do a fantastic dupe of the Becca under eye colour corrector. Using a colour corrector rather than concealer is better for me.

NCpuffyEyesHelp · 13/10/2022 10:05

Thanks everyone!

I'll look into the tanning thing, I'd never thought of that before. I'll look at some YouTube videos

I've been thinking about tear trough fillers for a while now, but there's so many places where I am (I live in Edinburgh) that choices overwhelm me. I know there's sk:n clinic here, which I've been to before for a different thing and was pleased with the results, but it's so bleeding expensive!

Especially if you'd need to "top up" every few months or so, wondered if it would be worth it in the long run. And of course the risk of bruising etc

I’ve inherited this problem too. Even in my 20s I was told I looked tired even after a good nights sleep and make up. It’s frustrating and difficult to conceal as the hollowness creates shadows and I think my eyes are one of my better features! I’m considering Sabrina Shah-Desai for under eye filler, she’s based in London. I’ll probably need a lower blepharoplasty when I’m older 😕

Shitfather · 20/11/2022 21:51

I had TTFs for the same issue in Jan, and it’s still going strong. It’s worn down, but no sign of hollows. Shadows vanished.

Jellyfish7 · 20/11/2022 22:15

Where did you get the filler done? Did you have much bruising?
