In order of importance...they need to be:

Pull on
Flat fronted so no zip
No pleats either
Not leggings or jeggings or joggers
Slim or tapered silhouette
Short length
Dark colour
'Casual' rather than 'office'
Don't mind what fabric
Preferably not patterned

I've recently lost weight ( ongoing) and am now a 16. All my bottoms are hanging off me as they are mostly 20s. I'm a tubby hourglass (36F) but I do have a tummy overhang which is why I'm trying to avoid a zipped trouser, as I find this, shall we say, showcases the very bit I'm trying to disguise.

I'm 5'4 so wide legged styles just don't work on me. I look best in "neat" trousers but all I can find at the moment are polyester style trousers that look like the bottom part of a uniform. Or else really voluminous styles that just swamp me.

I know I'm asking for the moon on a stick but I'm hoping there's a slim chance someone else is in the same boat and has found some!

TIA

I think these are the ones from M&S but realised they are wider than you're after.

However, said friend is about 5'5" and bought an 18 & I thought she looked really good in them.

Well done on your weight loss btw

Google ‘magic trousers’ they look like joggers but they’re not jersey, they’re really stretchy, comfy and flattering and can be worn casually with trainers of more smartly with shoes or boots x

I've seen these mentioned on here before and I've had a look on Amazon but unsure about the sizing?

I bought these recently, they are definitely not jogger-looking and also (contrary to one of the pics) don't have pleats/creases.

Sometimes they come in 2 sizes, size 1 is about a 10 to 16, size 2 up to a 20. They’re really nice and stretchy, you’ll be great in a size 1, then when you do lose more weight, they’ll still be the right size. I’d definitely recommend giving them a go, they’re really comfortable and go with loads of things.

Robell or Roman work well for me

The magic trousers come in two sizes - go for the XL, I wear mine all of the time, love them and so flattering.

I have these in navy and they are perfect! Doesn't look like many sizes left online though.

VanCleefArpels · 25/10/2022 18:54

Lands End May also fit your brief, really great quality

But I’d also echo others saying M&S- my DD bought some pull
on tapered heavy weight crepe jersey trousers for work this weekend.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2022 18:55

The Tu trousers that pp posted above are really thin fabric. I sent them back.

CountryMouse22 · 25/10/2022 19:11

These are very comfy and the pleat just falls out when they're washed. I wear them every day. Ignore also the 'ankle grazer' bit. Just order which is best for height. I am 5' 7" and order a 'Tall'. You could try a 'Medium' unless you have short legs.

Some of these are not short:(

Ticktockwoof · 25/10/2022 19:19

Boden do black pull on joggers, but they look smarter than ordinary joggers. I live in them.

@FireandBrimstone I second these although I am 5'6 they are a little short for me but on a shorter person perfect they are soooo comfy I can wear them for work with a blouse but equally can put on trainers and a jumper for casual they are really nice. I should have got a longer length might order another pair!

Suja1 · 25/10/2022 19:52

Saint and Sofia. Many types, comfortable, good quality

Fayelina · 25/10/2022 22:40

Sainsburys Petite Ponte tapered trousers £12 and they are so comfortable, they only have black, at least my Sainsburys did. Felt true to size.
