Argyll or fairisle winter jumper for older teen girls

I am looking for some lovely winter knitwear for my teen girls aged 19 and 22 for Christmas presents.

Brora is a bit on the expensive side for me, and anyway, I don't think my dds would like their colour combinations this year. But I still want to buy them jumpers that are reasonably good quality. Think suitable for a cosy country weekend away rather than metropolitan fashion!

Any shop recommendations please? Where do teens and young adults buy their knitwear?

Or where can you buy classic knitwear nowadays for that matter?

Woolover have a nice selection. I've just bought some for my (younger) teens and they love them. I let them choose the colour they wanted, but if they are to be Christmas presents you may have to look at their wardrobes for inspiration!

MissVantaBlack thanks so much I will have a look!

I think it’s quite risky to buy clothes for young women of that age. I have one,and can never be sure if something will be worn to ribbons or left to moulder. But I am currently looking for a jumper like this for me. I havent found the right jumper yet, but I love these socks, which are from a company called Irish inspiration and £10.99. They have some lovely Donegal hoodies which are nearly right. I’m worried they might be itchy.

Thanks Zebracat I agree it's a risk and would never dare buy anything for my dds' ordinary wardrobe but in the past I have bought lovely jumpers for when they come home to visit (we live in the country) which have gone down well.

I do like those socks! I will have a look at the website!

I found this jumper in Uniqlo but they have sold out of the dark grey version ATM:

I personally don't think Argyll or Fair Isle is what I'd be going for, I'd go for any of these, below:-

glassworkslondon.com/collections/knitwear

aligne.co/collections/knitwear

kitristudio.com/collections/jersey-knitwear

www.gant.co.uk/teens-knitwear

I personally think they'd just be bored with Argyll etc but also if you get them cashmere etc it's hard to take care of and easy to damage.

Thank you so much GonnaGetGoingReturns I really appreciate those links! Those shapes are definitely more in the silhouette that my dds favour.

Agree cashmere impractical when they live in student accommodation. There are some interested Argyle (is it Argyll? not sure?) jumpers on the Glassworks site too.

I had meant to look at Gant but had forgotten so thanks for reminder!
I really love the cream cable knit jumpers!

DD liked the cable and plain woolovers jumpers, had quite a few which she wore all the time in cooler months.m

If they’re more ‘cottagecore’ you could have a look at Plümo.

Some great suggestions already.
Seasalt might be worth a look - for Fair Isle style jumpers and accessories.
Also TK Maxx - although tend to be wool/nylon mix.

For me cashmere is hard to take care of full stop, not about living e.g. in student accommodation. You have to watch out for moths, ensure it's either hand washed in a machine or in a sink, then dried properly. I try not to buy it if I can, only because I know I'm more than likely to ruin it from experience!

One of DB's friends used to own Woolovers and DB used to do photos of jumpers for their websites in the past... amazing that it was set up on a market stall! I've never personally liked that many of their jumpers that I was given (I used to get given jumpers/cardigans worn on the shoots) but I'm fussy.

The more expensive adult women's knitwear is really nice, but I'd be tempted to wait for sales/sample sales/outlet shops:

seems to say Argyle there too rather than Argyll.

Info on where Argyle comes from but of course it relates to isle of Argyll:
