Helping out recent loose skin at beginning of weight loss journey

Caveat:
I know nothing can really prevent loose skin.
I know it’s down to genetics, how large you are, how long you’ve been overweight, your skin type, etc.
I know the main ways to mitigate it are losing weight slowly, doing weight training to build muscle, and keeping hydrated.
I will be doing all these things/bearing them in mind - and I’m fully prepared that if I lose a large amount of weight I WILL likely have loose/excess skin. And I know only surgery can remove it.

However I’m trying to research any other things that may help prevent it even just slightly, or improve the appearance of stretched out, stretch-marked skin. So far I’m considering:
Collagen supplements
Biotin supplements
Regular moisturising (Q10 moisturiser?)
Bio oil?

I’d love if any skincare fans have any ideas of other supplements or topical applications that might help! Then I can research them and see if they might be something I want to try!

Radio Frequency and High Frequency Ultrasound treatments may help, but they are very expensive and the results probably won’t be permanent.

I have a little bit of loose skin on my neck and I have researched every option.

I’m currently 3 sessions into a course of 10 RF treatments and I haven’t seen any improvement yet.

No evidence that eating collagen is digested any different to other proteins. No evidence that putting collagen on the skin affects the skin.

Maybe take a multi vit? If you are short of vitamins and minerals then it would help, and it would be expensive to pay for a private test.

The two external things I'm aware of that are recommended are dry brushing and body oils. Some do retinol body oils for stretchmarks. I Dont know if they work.

On top of that, don't smoke, don't drink, don't eat too much sugar, get sleep, get exercise.

And then as you say, be born with the right genes.

I have a friend who went through this and the skin didn't really shrink until she got to a low bmi of about 18 or 19 and even then it took a year. If the skin still has fat under it she thought it didn't shrink. When the skin folds got thinner and papery then did.

Good luck with losing. I think almost everyone I know who has done it prefers loose skin to full skin.

Oh, and i have heard good things about intermittent fasting. Supposedly the body is either digesting or spring cleaning (autophagy), and can't do bith at the same time. If your body isn't always dealing with food then apparently it can do more eg with skin. I have noticed this myself with new scars which lingered for ages then disappeared very quickly when I tried IF.

But the science is very new and unproven. So take it with a pinch of salt.

I read that liposomal vitamin C improves skin elasticity. Tests were done on the face but obviously if you are ingesting it all of your skin must be affected.

I've been taking it for years and although I have lost over 5 stone (slowly) I have been very lightly treated in the loose skin department. I know I am lucky with my genes but maybe the vitamin C helped? (I also do weight training, moisturise, drink plenty of water, have a good diet etc)

What about massages? They do face massage to keep the skin tight and wrinkle free with a gua sha or a face roller, maybe something like that for the body with an oil?
