Cowboy boots

I am drawn to the look of western boots. I look crap in them. I think it's my chunky calves. Why do they look rubbish on me? I look fine in elegant heeled boots or chunky combat style boots but western boots long or short styles look so weird on me

Go for it! I've got four pairs, I love them and wear them all year round:

Glad that wider legs jeans are trending now as I prefer to have jeans over my boots, not tucked into skinnies!

-R Soles limited edition from early 90s snakeskin by Judy Rothchild (I got for my 21st and I'm now 51!)

  • leather vintage black pair got from eBay
  • leather vintage long tan pair from eBay
  • ankle height Isabel Murant in tan suede (which I wore today and got for my 50th)

Some lovely ones in Zara atm but I shall NOT cave into my boot obsession this winter!

Embrace and enjoy!

I adore these!! What style are you looking for?

I really don't know. The 3/4 ones look great on really slim calves. Otherwise they literally cut the leg at its most unflattering point. Ankle are probably most wearable. Knee length again look good. On other people. They look so normal on some people and so so odd on me

Yes! Do it.

I've got three Isabel Marant pairs, two knee-high and one ankle. A Cuban heel Ayede pair. And a Ganni embroidered pair.

Love them!

I wear those brands so maybe you will be good inspiration. Please tell me how you style them!

Ah. Ow you have me thinking. Maybe these western inspired booties are a way to ease into it 🤔

Those with Ariat boots - what is the sizing like? I really must buy some. I’m a size 8 currently they only seem to have 7.5 or 8.5

TreacsPotNoodle · 10/10/2022 13:53

I got these from Zara last year and I'm obsessed! I style them with a black smock dress (no tights) and leather jacket or a blazer dress in the evening if I don't want to wear heels. I would never wear them with trousers - feel like that's crossing into cowboy territory.

Would help if I posted the photoBlush

I love those Celine photos too OP. I had a pair of Cuban heel boots at the back of the wardrobe that were plain leather, no embroidery. I hadn't worn them for years, but I got them out to wear under some wide leg jeans this Spring.

TinaYouFatLard · 10/10/2022 14:19

I hear you OP. I look like one of the Three Musketeers in anything higher than an ankle boot.

I just bought gold Oliver bonas ones & everyone is much admiring of them.

👀nice! And the straight tops make then less yee-haw. I'm thinking modified cowboy boots may be the way to go. Straight tops or in embellished. I'm also thinking it's the curved tops that make my legs look weird. Straight tops. Hmmm 🤔

The sendra ones are kind of nice. I don't know that brand. Are they good?

pocketvenuss · 10/10/2022 20:16

Looking at them on the Sendra site I realise one thing I am a bit funny about. The toes always point up and the Cuban heels angle in so I always feel a bit like I look like I am tipping backward and walking on my heels 😂

pocketvenuss · 10/10/2022 20:17

Yep. See these. The heels on one angle in more. I don't like that. I'm figuring out what the problem is. I'll get there!!

I love my cowboy boots and think they are quite flattering, have calf high ones and I find the curved cut slimming. Don't know what sendra is like for boots but I have a hat from them which I love.

They're a very good Spanish company, family owned. An old business in the Spanish shoemaking district, where they are very well known.

Appalonia · 10/10/2022 20:32

I have these original, size 6, bought in America cowboy boots, not worn them for years, so you think they'd sell, as they seem to be back in fashion now?

DeanStockwelll · 10/10/2022 23:40

If they are in good condition and the leather hasn't dried out the yes I think they would sell, but why don't you start wearing them again 🙂
