Lipstick if I rarely wear makeup?

Can anyone recommend me a lipstick please? I don’t often wear makeup but I’d like try a new one. Something that’s fairly neutral, my lips but better if such a thing exists.
I have fair skin, blonde hair (coloured) and I’m 55.
Thanks 😊

Just to add anything brown or beige toned doesn't work for me.

I've recently bought 2 L'Oréal lipsticks in Rosewood nonchalant 133, in the gold tube. It's a lovely soft cream lipstick and is a joy to wear. A pinky natural shade, and Berry Parisian in 137, more of an evening shade. A plummy pink. In the gold tube again. I've also just bought Max Factor colour elixir cushion lipgloss in a squeezey tube in 035 baby star coral. Lovely for the summer. Adds a hint of colour. I've ordered via ebay a pale pink one and a dark plum one.

I've never figured out lipstick! I don't know my skin tone either (am fair but not super pale, but have quite red tones well).

Currently I have got CT Pillow Talk, MAC Twig mini size and MAC Teddy 2.0. Just tried them on again, and Pillow Talk is probably the one that makes me look the least ridiculous.

Am tempted to try one of the 'adjustable' colours because then at least I don't have to keep trying different shades/wasting money.

I can't remember it's actual name but I like a double ended balm/gloss from Revolution pro. Staying power is great, the balm creates a really nice base for it to sit on, the colours are really nice and it's about £8! Often part of a deal too, and nearly always cheaper on ASOS

I'd never been a lippy wearer before, but these changed that for me

Test the lipstick on the pad of your finger, if it looks 'right' it'll look good with your skin tone/ on your lips.

I bought a couple of the M&S Autograph lip crayons ,(Plum and Almond shades) quite soft and sheer , not long lasting though because of this .

I’m currently doing virtual trying on Bobbi Brown pot rouge and lipsticks, so far it’s a toss up between fresh melon and powder pink

Thanks @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor! I will do that next time I'm out and about looking at things. I don't wear much make up but would like to nail a nice lippy to wear every now and again.

Try Rimmel Asia. I'm the same colouring as you and bought it as a budget emergency purchase when I forgot my make up bag on a work trip about 10 years ago. It's been my go-to 'everyday' lipstick every since, and the only one except Clinique's Black Honey that I've ever repurchased.

Me too, Asia is the only lipstick that I've ever repurchased. It's perfect for my colouring, blonde, cool tone. Plus it's very cheap.

I similar colouring and find Mac Dainty blush to be really flattering!

@MistyRock You could be a bad influence 😂😂

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor , my colouring sounds similar to yours and I've recently discovered I suit more of a plum/mauve coloured lipstick. Mac teddy etc all look a bit weird on me.

My favourite is the double ended Revolution pro "seclusion"

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/10/2022 19:37

I'll take a look at that, thanks 😊

I’ve ordered Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in fresh melon and lip tint in bare pink. I’ll see how I get on with these and then I might try a couple of other colours.
Thanks for all your suggestions 😊

They both sound really lovely op.

YorkieTheRabbit · 15/10/2022 18:09

The pot rouge in fresh melon is perfect for me. The consistency is more on the gel side than cream and it’s good for both cheek and lips on me so I’m really pleased.

The lipstick is fine, a little pinker than I thought but as it’s a tint rather than a full blown lipstick, I will use it 😊

Good news.

anonbelle · 16/10/2022 02:16

NYX cream lipstick, have a huge range of colours from nude, light pink, red & blue/purple etc etc🤩

Spaceprincess · 16/10/2022 09:21

@BreadInCaptivity same here, Velvet Teddy was also too pale, looked chalky on me.
I didn't think Pillow Talk suited me either.
MAC nudes I like are Spirit, Whirl and twig.
I have Two Faced Chocolate Chip which is also nice.

kerstina · 16/10/2022 14:37

If you like the Bobby brown lip tints you might also like Macs Glow play . Gorgeous texture .
