Is it a sty ?

Dionysius · 08/10/2022 12:39

Don't think so. Been there for years.

KalaniM · 08/10/2022 13:54

I think it might be a blocked gland. Try Optase heated eye mask for a while, it might melt / express itself.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 08/10/2022 13:58

Just stick a sterilised pin in it to break the skin a little and gently push, it'll all come out.

liIi · 08/10/2022 13:59

DO NOT listen to @HollyBollyBooBoo
Absolutely irresponsible SHIT advice.

Fraaahnces · 08/10/2022 14:03

If it is painful, it’s probably a stye. If it is painful and growing it’s a chalazion (a big stye cooking up.) It doesn’t look red or inflamed, so it probably is a Milou’s. It could potentially be irritating when you blink. I would speak to your GP and ask for a referral to an opthalmologist who might remove it for you.

Dionysius · 08/10/2022 14:11

It's not painful never has been, but I think it's increasing in size and is beginning to bother me aesthetically.

LookItsMeAgain · 08/10/2022 14:16

It's a blocked pore.

I had one in a similar location during my 20's. It's gone now. You need to use really gentle eye makeup remover on a cotton wool pad (I'd use one twice a day) and gently rub the area with the pad. I don't think you need to resort to Dr. Pimple Popper quite yet!

userxx · 08/10/2022 14:16

I'd get a professional to do it.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 08/10/2022 16:26

@liIi ha! I knew someone would say that! It's literally what the Nurse does to me and said I could do it myself as they keep reoccurring. Very easy just do it gently, break the skin a little and they'll pop out.

limitededitionbarbie · 08/10/2022 16:28

If you do pop it you have to post a pic it's the rules Grin

I know right. I always just pop stuff. They go away. Job done. I often wonder how the scared and timid survive

Blowyourowntrumpet · 08/10/2022 17:01

I'd have stuck a needle in that years ago.

AllLopsided · 08/10/2022 17:10

I had one like that on my lower eyelid. Ophthalmologist told me to put a hot flannel compress on it twice a day for 10 mins. After a week or so it started to detach and eventually fell off.

IncessantNameChanger · 08/10/2022 17:15

I had one by my eye for years and pushed it out with a needle. My gp doesn't even want to know what caused me to put on two stone in three months so I can't see him caring about spots.

I also cut off a skin tag by my eye with nail scissors while it was still tiny. The nhs isn't equipped to deal with this any more

SoupDragon · 08/10/2022 17:18

I had one of those and this thread has made me realise it has vanished. No idea how or when!

genericperson123 · 08/10/2022 17:49

I had one like this on the waterline of my eye (ugh) for a couple of years. It looked horrible and was irritating, I didn't really know what to do about it and didn't feel the doctor would be bothered. In the end I sterilised a needle and had a good go at it... didn't get it out at the time but the next day I noticed it had gone! Since then I've had others in places in my skin (hard white things, not usual spots you pop!) and have done the same, had a poke about, even if they don't come out at the time having a go seems they then somehow go on their own...

faretheewell · 08/10/2022 19:36

Ask about it at an eye test. They'll know what to do.

faretheewell · 08/10/2022 19:38

Otherwise something like Optrex might clean any debris blocking the pore and it might discharge with a gentle push.

DeliberatelyObtuse · 08/10/2022 19:42

I get them on my lower lid (middle) occasionally. My optician recommends a warm flannel and gentle massage in the direction of the head of it a few times a day and after 2 or 3 days it comes out

This is the best advice.

Poking at or very close to your eyes with needles is dangerous advice. FGS, nothing to do with being ‘timid’ or ‘scared’

Dionysius · 08/10/2022 20:23

I'll try the hot flannel. No head on it that I can distinguish. It's been there for years and it hasn't bothered me as it was quite small but I think it has increased recently.

The head's there on the right where it's slightly bigger

Massage really really gently from left to right after using a warm (not hot) flannel and it should come out after a couple of days

ncforyetanotherone · 08/10/2022 22:07

There are tiny sterilised needles you can get on Amazon for this Grin

anonbelle · 16/10/2022 02:28

I'd ask with a doctor/ pharmacy. Or a dermatologist...doesn't look like millia though?
