Botox or fillers?

Hi, first time over here.

I’m seriously considering Botox or fillers for my 11 lines between my eyebrows as well as smokers lines on my upper lip.

if you’ve done this before, what would you recommend? Thanks

They do two different jobs. Botox relaxes the muscles - so if they lines are not too deeply engrained already then it will
smooth them out.

if the lines are SUPER deep then fillers may then be needed to fill them in. But I would say that would come as a second step. I would start with the Botox first.

this is why Botox should be started early enough as a preventative measure.

Thank you, I’ll try Botox first.

Botox. Fillers are not to be used above the eyes due to the risk of migration. Not in Australia anyway, no responsible injector will do it. I have a small ‘divot’ above my left eyebrow and no one will fill it.

Ask the doctor for their suggestion.

This is such a strange comment. Above eye level fillers are very common. Especially between the eyes in the 11s. Once there is a deep trough, Botox won't eradicate it. The migration issue really makes zero sense as the two areas most frequently suffering migration (which is far more rare that tik tok would suggest) is lip and eye trough neither of which are above the eye. A cursory look online shows many certified doctors in Australia offering frown lines and 11s fillers. I can't vouch for these clinics but there are a fair ton of them in key locations in the big cities and it's very common in Europe and the UK

sausage767 · 07/10/2022 13:07

@quitelikelyto that’s very interesting! 2 separate doctors (one a cosmetic surgeon) and a nurse injector have told me no. I’ve had a lot of Botox to the area over the last 2 years which have only temporarily improved it. Im going to keep looking. Thank you!

Purpleavocado · 07/10/2022 13:11

I have quite deep 11's (51 years old) and Botox is enough for me with no fillers needed. I can't comment on the smokers lines as I'm too scared of trout put for fillers around there.

DoingJustFine · 07/10/2022 13:12

Botox will sort those 11s out. Eventually, if you keep having it every 4-6 months, the wrinkles will have faded away completely.

DoingJustFine · 07/10/2022 13:13

I mean, you'll lose the 11s as soon as Botox kicks in (2-3 weeks), because you won't be able to frown any more. But over time the line that has formed in your skin will vanish.

I had botox. Unpainful, super quick and not v expensive. I love the results.

readingismycardio · 07/10/2022 13:14

Non painful wtf ios

You are not the person to decide this!

You need to go to a good cosmetic dr who will assess your face and make suggestions.

A lot of people need both Botox and fillers as they treat different things and areas of the face.

smooththecat · 07/10/2022 13:49

I have looked into this. There is a risk of necrosis with filler between the eyebrows due to proximity of blood vessels. It must be carried out by a cosmetic surgeon if you do it.

Burnamer · 07/10/2022 13:52

I am you OP. Botox in the forehead and filler round the mouth. And I LOVE it.

But obvs consult a professional.

coolpattern · 07/10/2022 14:21

Obvs will consult a professional but these are the options presented and am doing my research. Haven’t injected anything before but time is marching on and my face needs help!

Take a look at the site of Dr Tracy Mountford, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic voted one of the best drs in the UK - clinic in London and Bucks. It's based on minimal treatment and no one will know.

There is a huge range of treatments now.

I've been and went with the approach of 'I don't like X about my face...what can you do?'

It will also give you an idea of the level of training that her team have. Many are dentists who understand the bone structure of the face.

Please don't have you face messed with by a beautician who has done a week's training.

wormshuffled · 07/10/2022 16:39

My 11's really bothered me. I had botox initially and it didn't fill the lines but did prevent them getting worse.
The next time I had fillers in there too and a year on I am still happy with the result. Made a huge difference.
I'm due for more botox soon (I have it twice a year).

I'm going to ask about how best to sort out my disappearing bottom lip and lip lines.

Gensola · 07/10/2022 16:42

I have fillers in my frown line as it was super deep - I don’t have 11s I just have one massive deep trough. It’s completely gone with Botox and filler. You can definitely put filler in your forehead, I get it done in a very reputable clinic run by a nurse and dentist team, but they’re not surgeons or anything.

LaraLei · 07/10/2022 16:46

I love botox so much. Game changer!

Mingot · 07/10/2022 17:18

Does Botox work on deep crows feet?

YumYummy · 07/10/2022 19:38

I have botox twice a year on my 11’s, forehead lines and crows feet and fillers once a year on my smokers lines (I’ve never smoked), jowls and a tiny bit in my cheeks about 2 in 3 years.

sausage767 · 08/10/2022 11:19

Mingot · 07/10/2022 17:18

Does Botox work on deep crows feet?

It will either get rid of them entirely, or make them much less deep. I’m 54, I’ve had Botox on my crows feet once or twice, and I have no lines there at all.

jeaux90 · 08/10/2022 11:46

I had exactly this issue OP. I use both. Fillers once a year, although my 11's are now 20 months old so only smokers lines had a yearly top up.

Botox in forehead and smokers lines every 3 months.

Do your research, find a great practice. I am super happy with my results.
