False nails then....

I want to get them done - have a few parties this month but will they destroy my nails? I've heard horror stories. Will I be able to use a keyboard at high speed like I have to at work? Will I be able to pick out a five pence piece out of my purse?

How have I got to my age without ever having my nails done?

Are your nails really bitten and short? If not, why not just get a manicure? Falsies can weaken your nails.

not bitten but they never grow beautifully, never all the same length and I have small hands which are crying out for lovely long nails. DH laughs at how tiny my hands are, DD's are almost the same size and she is 9.

I had my first set of false nails on 14th December. For the first week they looked lovely BUT i couldnt do a bloody thing! Typing was slow campared to normal and doing buttons and zips was near impossible! Going to the toilet was just damn scarey! By the time i got used to wearing them they had started to look abit dull. I lasted untill Dec 30th and removed them at home! My nails now are awful! They are paper thin and very brittle and thats from having them on for only 2 weeks!

You'll be amazed how lovely your hands will look after a manicure.

id say unless you are going to continue getting them maintained it really isnt worth spoiling your natural nails and would be better to get a manicure.

WingsofanAngel · 25/01/2008 20:24

They look lovely.

You can have them removed at the place you had them done at. Which is way easier than doing it your self.

The down side is they can leave you nails weak and prone to splitting.

so that's a not pretty much all round then... I will investigate a manicure tomorrow!
