What's with the 'flamingo leg' nonsense on sm?

I love looking at fashion pages etc on social media but oh my god of I see one more 'cute' leg kick back whilst showing off an outfit I'll scream. Is it in place of the 'look at me I'm so cute' pigeon toed stance? Surely I'm not the only one who finds this completely ridiculous? 😊

Or the red carpet cross legs.

Don't worry, autumn is here now, so the 'looking down while coyly tucking your hair behind your ear as you take a step' pose is coming.

And when winter comes we can fondly smile at the hands in woolly mittens held under the nose poses. Always a winner.

I'm not on sm except for mn, but that stork pose reminds me of old films when the kiss finally happens and for some reason the woman does this stork move. I was a child watching these films and taking literal notes about how to behave when kissed. The pose that bugs me most though isn't this, it's the one on shop pages like asos where all the women are squatting or bending awkwardly. I mean, good to know the clothes are flexible, but I'm probably not going to be doing what those poses imply.

HA! This really made me laugh, someone I know on insta always does that, along with the other autumn classic: delicate little hand wrapped around a mug with a big jumper cuff visible.

Serious question though. What is an acceptable pose to adopt if you're showing off an outfit? I actually like seeing outfit inspo pics.

I cannot stand it! People I followed who did this I then unfollowed as it was getting too much

Bit like the influencers who stand tits out, pout on and one leg slightly bent....

I belong to a sports team and we have lots of photos after events. Almost all the women do this. I hate it it makes us look like a team of women (not me, I stand there wooden 😆) more interested in how we look than out achievements. And it doesn't even make them look better. I think it's supposed to make you look thinner, but they all have fantastic fit bodies.

Honestly I am the WORST at posing so even these tried and tested ones don’t work for me! Grin

I do wish I was a big-jumper-and-messy-hair girl. Alas, I am too fat, old and ugly Grin

Could i also add the formerly named 'sympathetic head tilt' or the 'smug head tilt' . Usually reserved for family selfies - the glammed up mum does the head tilt so say 'just look at us'. My sister also does it with her BFFs, but they are all doing it in the same photo which just looks daft.

Sorry but I would rather have any of these poses, despite their ridiculousness, than the ubiquitous trout pout. It’s mainly teen girls but still …

Don't get me started on women sitting with their legs wide apart or in come hither poses. Just yuk.
I don't want to see clothes esp underwear modelled by young very overweight women. If you want to make it inclusive, show it on scraggy, short, middle-aged women with cellulite too.
And models with that mouth half open look - yuk again. I'm not a mouth breather.

This type of thing - I can't find a group shot online and would be outing and unfair if I tagged my sister or any of my friends who do it! 😂 But it is usually a group of girls or a family doing this
