Dyson Airwrap for a total novice!

How easy is the Airwrap to use and is it worth the money?

I have seen people credit their fabulous hair to it. But I’m the type of person with no dexterous skill whatsoever and have never really been able to use a barrel curler or do waves with GHDs etc

would love your opinions!

I got mine about a month ago. Didn’t find the curling bit as hard as I thought but my curls drop out within an hour. Frustrating. J will say that my hair has never looked better and now I rarely straighten it (which has to be better right?) I feel like once I perfect the curl staying in I’ll be onto a winner.

You need a lot of product to get the curls to hold.

But it's the only way I have successfully curled my hair. I usually use the big roller attachment and love it. As PP said, my hair is in its best ever condition, and loads easier than a traditional hairdryer for me

I got the air wrap in May and have only used the curling parts a few times for going out hair. But day to day I love the smoothing brush and curling brush attachments. I use the hairdryer attachment to nearly dry my hair and then alternate the brush attachments daily for a different look.
I got mine from QVC so I could return for up to 2 months if I didn't like it.

My hair holds a curl pretty well, so I’m less worried about that - it’s more the ease of use and how easy it is to get wrong - bad memories of basically having dents in my hair from GHD curl fails 🙈

It probably took me a couple of tries to get the technique right, the arrows on the curler attachments are reversed when you look in the mirror. I had previously managed to burn my neck a couple of times with curling wands so it’s a relief that I can’t do myself any mischief with an Airwrap. I’ve had mine coming up to 3 years, use it daily (my daughter too when she is home from uni) and would not be without it.

I have wavy/curly hair and it is so easy
i never mastered a blow dry but my hair can go from frizzy to styled in under 10 mins

I wash my hair and let it dry naturally and it stays wavy for 2 days
Then on day 3 to 7 I spray with water and use the air wrap
There are tricks to keep the curl longer on the internet

On me the curl does drop after a while but it still looks good

QVC did a 60 day money back guarantee if you didn’t like it when I bought it

Really easy to use!! My DD has one and her and her friends do each other’s hair with it. They’re all 8/9.

dontgobaconmyheart · 02/10/2022 12:53

Cracking up that your DD and her friends (under 10 years of age!) are proficient with the Air Wrap @NCFT0922 - I am 34 and can't do a thing with it!

I've tried a friends about 10 times now and just found it difficult to use and din't get the result I wanted, what I do in 5 or 10 minutes putting a loose curl in with my GHD's looks better. I definitely wouldn't buy one but to be honest, at that price I wouldn't even if I'd tried it and had good results.

I have the Dyson hairdryer and hated that too so perhaps it's just not for me.

NCFT0922 · 02/10/2022 13:19

@dontgobaconmyheart really? I find them really straight forward and yes, as I said, my dd loves hers. She has very long & wavy hair anyway so it adds more waves really but she loves it.

Venuz · 02/10/2022 13:26

The secret is to hold each curl for a minute each and they last all day. Don't be sad when you first get it, you will look like the queen mother crossed with penelope Keith for the first few goes, it's definitely a skill you have to persevere with

BlackSwan · 02/10/2022 13:29

Watch some youtube tutorials to get the technique right.

I pin my curls to hold the curl, but it does still take a lot of product as another poster says...

Youngatheart00 · 02/10/2022 13:30

Hmmmm after reading these responses I think I’ll have a go with a friends first because I have zero skill and seems like others have struggled too (if only to have the sass and ability of a stylish 9 year old rather than a scatty 40 year old!!)
