Dressing a stomach like a sack of potatoes!

Someone else described their stomach this way on my other thread and that's exactly what mine looks like!

A year after having my first child I am a size 16-18 with a c-section overhang and for various reasons I'm not in the right headspace to change that just yet.

I live in dresses and leggings with baggy t shirts, basically anything to hide it. It's not my style at all really. I'm 31 and feel very frumpy.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some nice flattering clothes?

Speaking as someone who puts weight on their front like this too, I find A line skirts very helpful. Don’t get the ones that put darts (or whatever they are)over the stomach so they flare out from the hips, this defeats the purpose, the ones you want for a skirt should look like basically a big triangle shape that someone has cut the top off to make a waist.

I see this one’s out of stock but it’s the kind of thing I mean:

I generally pair this with a v neck top.

I am a similar size and shape and I second the suggestion of a line skirts. Another good option are dresses belted slightly above your natural waist to highlight the slimmest part of you. Dancing Leopard’s Dove dress does this well and is easy to dress up or down.

Thank you both!

Have a search for shift dresses and swing dresses.

Your body has made another human being it's pretty amazing!

I've always had a tummy even when slim and definitely in midlife after two kids. Overhang I deal with by big M and S pants, they do lacy ones if you prefer. Otherwise I wear separates as I find them more flattering and easier to find than dresses, so slim jeans and jacket/slacker. Dresses I tend to wear black but short with chunky boots, big scarf in this weather or long and floaty. Basically I just don't highlight my stomach, I also feel sick with things tight on it to keeping things loose there is nicer.

Jackets add a bit of structure as well, casual ones or blazers, on top of dress or with jeans. Trinny and Suzannah were right on how to dress an apple shape all those years ago!

Thank you! Before my baby I always had a small waist, even when heavier. It's still there underneath all the fat...somewhere! I used to store weight more on my bottom half so I'm shocked at how bad my stomach is now!

I’ve got the same lifelong ongoing problem. I think a lot depends on your heights and what kind of footwear you wear. In general I prefer separates too but shift dresses and some skater dresses are good. No to short fitted jackets.
I personally can’t do A line skirts because if they fit me in the stomach area they are too wide in tights and below; love jeans, not moms but straight or slim, don’t do light coloured trousers or jeans, don’t do midi lengths - only short, just below the knee or maxi.

High waist jeans; Next have decent ones, t-shirt/blouse and a relaxed blazer. Baggy loose clothes add to your size, I've never understood the MN sack dresses or smock leggings thing, so unflattering to any figure.
