Anyone paid for a ‘wardrobe cleanse’?

Hi I have been thinking about getting a professional wardrobe cleanse as I have been struggling with changes to my body and trying to figure out what to wear.
The service I have seen is £210 for 3 hours, reviewing my clothes, lifestyle, making a shopping list etc.
Has anyone done this? How much did you pay and was it worth the money?

My stylish friend helps me for free. £70 per hour seems a bit steep to help you declutter!

Do they offer suggestions for your list, like a personal stylist/shopper?

Mercedesbenz2022 · 29/09/2022 21:23

John Lewis do a free styling session. , if you have similar to items they recommend then keep them , purchase anything ‘missing ‘
and if anything is tarty or not your colour or Just just right then bin

seems a lot of money tbh

Mercedesbenz2022 · 29/09/2022 21:24

Not tarty , tatty !

WalkingOnSonshine · 29/09/2022 21:33

I’d look at someone like Emily Innes. She does online consultations for a lot cheaper & provides colour, size and mini shop analysis.

lannistunut · 29/09/2022 21:38

I would not pay someone so much to do that - you can easily do it for yourself.

Lay everything you have out in piles on the floor, by type e.g. skirts, trousers, tops... Remove the ones that look shit. Keep the ones that look nice.

Make a shopping list. Spend the £210 on new clothes.

This is the maddest thing I've ever heard, I can't believe it even exists.

Sewwhatmrmagpie · 29/09/2022 21:43

I definitely wouldn't pay for this, you can do it yourself. There are loads of videos on YouTube that will guide you through it.

reviewing my clothes, lifestyle, making a shopping list

But this is the easy bit! Chucking out stuff that doesn’t fit or suit you and making a wish list of what you need … that’s no problem.

Actually finding the needed items, in the right fit/colour etc … now that I would pay for!

mondaytosunday · 29/09/2022 22:15

My decluttering friend charges £25/hour, and will sell your stuff on eBay for 50% cut.

Oh my God this sounds amazing! I have loads of clothes but nothing to wear and often dream of just starting again. Having someone come in and sort me out would be amazing

PeachMelba78 · 30/09/2022 09:49

Thanks for all the comments and the useful links.
I don’t have a ‘stylish friend’ so that’s why I am looking at a professional, also I would hope that they would know more than an average person.
I follow fashion pretty closely but I still think an independent person would be helpful.
I will definitely look at some online resources as some of you have suggested.
Lastly I have already gone through my wardrobe and got rid of things that don’t fit etc, and I can create some outfits but I want more flexibility with what I own IYSWIM.

PP are right that it sounds expensive, but sometimes that is the best thing.

She will come and revolutionise your life, make you feel tons better about yourself, and you will make sure you make it work, because you have to get your money's worth.

If you can afford it, do it.

PeachMelba78 · 30/09/2022 10:38

@moofolk its difficult because it is relatively expensive but I am struggling with a menopause tummy which has made the styles I used to wear look terrible! And I can pull together some outfits but I want to get more out of my current wardrobe and also understand why certain looks aren’t working.
I am in a senior role and can afford it, but I really wanted to hear from people who had done it to see if it helped.

If you really want help I would shop around a bit, as it seems very expensive. Have you looked at some of the Instagram pages that do this sort of thing?

Clubforty.claire specialises in those mid-life issues, wear the stars does wardrobe audits and helps you put items together, and Emily Innes as suggested earlier also does this.

PeachMelba78 · 30/09/2022 13:01

I’ve looked at Emily Innis, and what she offers looks to be good value. I think I need to decide whether an in person would be that much more beneficial, which is why I wanted to hear from anyone who had had a similar service.
