Botox

I’ve had Botox last year which looked amazing on my forehead but went to a different provider this time and if I am honest it looks crap . The last time I got it o actually felt my forehead feel totally different once the Botox set in but this time I still have a lot of movement and the lines are still there .I’ve booked my two week top up which will actually be 3 weeks for next week but can I ask the provider to top me up as I’m not happy at all with the results . I’m mid 30s . The provider I went to has been doing aesthetics for a number of years but doesn’t seem to have a huge amount of repeat customers etc from what I can gather . I went to her as a friend used her for something else .

You can absolutely ask them to top up and they will do it, but most do charge for it unless something has actually been done 'wrong'.

There are different types of Botox so it might be that they used a different type to your previous practitioner.

I’ve never been charged for my two week review appointment!

Some practitioners prefer to go gentle at the first appointment to see how your muscles respond and then finish the job fully at the second one. I guess they don’t want to totally freeze you at the first one, and you come back unhappy about it, because that can’t be undone, but more can definitely be added. I tend to find the more treatments I’ve had with the same person, the bolder they are with administration as time goes on, as they start to learn what results we get, what my resistant areas are and where my other muscles will start to overcompensate for the ones we’ve treated.

I wouldn’t worry too much at the moment, I’m sure she’ll sort it at the review.

I got two free top ups, though mine was medical and not cosmetic so the result was objectively not enough. If you still have wrinkles then I don't know how they could argue that you had to pay again?

TortugaRumCakeQueen · 28/09/2022 14:47

Of course you can get a top up, and it should be free. Ask what product they are using. I've been told that the only real botox is Allergan - other products are not as effective.

Delatron · 28/09/2022 16:24

Top ups are free and many doctors prefer to err on the side of caution these days- this is a good thing, you can add but you can’t take away.

Just ask for more at the top up - we all need different doses.

Delatron · 28/09/2022 16:26

Also some people like lots of movement and don’t want to feel the Botox. I know I do!

Sweetlikechocolate6 · 28/09/2022 17:00

It’s strange I paid for the first initial treatment but then you pay for the two week top up separately which I’ve never heard of before , last provider just booked me in for two weeks after I saw her .
i think in future though I would go with someone else if she can’t sort this next week

Oh no that’s not good practice. You should never pay for the top up. You get a two week check booked in then either you’re fine or if they need to tweak it’s free.

mistermagpie · 28/09/2022 18:53

Oh there you go, I've always been charged if I need a top up! Quite a reputable provider as well, although that might be why - she's quite well known and maybe you're paying for the appointment? Hmm.

Isabelle70 · 28/09/2022 21:10

I have never paid for my 2 week check up or if I have any more at that appointment but I have been going to the same doctor for 4 years.

bombemma · 28/09/2022 21:17

Terrible practice (I'm an aesthetic nurse) never charged any patient for a top up

Delatron · 28/09/2022 22:06

I go to a very reputable Harley Street expensive doctor- she’s never charged for top ups.

None of the doctors I’ve seen have. It’s not something I’ve heard of before.

bombemma · 29/09/2022 08:02

Bearing in mind it might be a business pricing thing. If her price per area was low. Ie making it more affordable for the patient having two payments... was it cheaper than your last nurse?

Sweetlikechocolate6 · 29/09/2022 15:46

@bombemma yeah it worked out cheaper than last practitioner but probably standard price in my area for just one area of botox . Just a bit nervous about asking her for more at this top up session
