Yes, I found a lovely hairdresser, she was lovely, always did my hair exactly how I wanted it (except once when she blowdried it differently, but I'll let her off the once!) but then she got loved up and moved down south with her DP.

Now I have found a place where they do do exactly what they are told, but just for a wash and blow dry, it is £90, and I hate paying it, but can't seem to find anywhere else.

I know what you mean its so annoying. I have been known to drive to my sister's hairdresser in Devon to get my hair done as he is fantastic. He is italian and very usedd to styling long hair. I always come out looking very glam. . However have found someone five mins from my new house who is in my age group and used to teach hairdressng so I get a decent conversation aswell.

yogimum · 25/01/2008 07:57

sorry about spelling. Haven't had my second cup of coffee yet.

brimfull · 25/01/2008 07:59

yes !

9 times out of ten he gets it just as I've asked

have been going to him for 7 yrs now, which is a record for me.

ggirl, can't remember his name. He used to live in Oz. Quite a trendy salon near the PO. There are quite a few salons in Westbourne if I remember.

brimfull · 25/01/2008 08:08

must be a different one
don't thik he's lived in Os, but could be wrong ,he travels loads

SSSandy2 · 25/01/2008 08:47

I've had plenty of diasters I can tell you.

Then I discovered I need a male (preferably gay) Turkish hairdresser. So long as they are Turkish, I get what I want and they seem to have the concept that the aim of a haircut is to make the woman look good. I don't know why all hairdressers don't keep this in mind.

But then I'm not having any ambitious haircuts these days. What kind of haircut are you trying to get done then?

PippiCalzelunghe · 25/01/2008 09:10

sssandy I am trying to get the most simple haircut ever, a bob cut (half neck length with a little bit of movement/irregularity WITHOUT a fringe!!). Is it a difficult one? They always cut the front so I end up with a fringe and a kind of longish mullet! (okay not that bad but you get the picture.) I see millions of people with this haircut but oh no not me...

Charlie Taylor -Perth. My hair had not been cut for thirteen years and she did it for my wedding day..she made me look years younger.
A genius with scissors and a lovely way with people too.

CatIsSleepy · 25/01/2008 09:28

the last haircut I had made me cry

morninggirl · 25/01/2008 09:36

my last hair cut was exactly what i wanted and more (but the one before that was dreadful! she didnt listen!)

SSSandy2 · 25/01/2008 09:36

OMG I HATE it when they give you a bl* fringe and you've told them you don't want one. They take ages to grow out.

southeastastra · 25/01/2008 09:38

a bob is one of the most difficult haircuts for hairdressers i've heard. it has to be very precise.

Tommy · 25/01/2008 09:39

I have ine who always cuts my hair brilliantly and exactly what I want (even though sometimes I didn't know what I wanted when I went in ) but she is very expensive and I can't always get an appointment so I go to a local one who doens't do such a good job and I get miserable about it after one day

SSSandy2 · 25/01/2008 09:44

I know I had this (German) hairdresser for a while who was generally ok, used to do my card and read my future and so on so we got on ok but anyone one day, without asking me, he just decided to do something different and cut me this fringe which was like, I dunno, 1 1/2 inches long or something.

I did not like it. I looked like one of those French actresses - you know the one all big brown eyes in that film - Amelie or something like that? It just was not me. I really really did not like it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/01/2008 09:51

yes, I always get what I asked for because I have a fab hairdresser and anyway I'm always very firm about what I want - it's too important not to be assertive !

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/01/2008 09:52

having said that, as a teenager I had the worst perm in the whole world - totaly awful - would have looked better with shaved head.

Countingthegreyhairs · 25/01/2008 13:58

never, ever, ever

want a classic bob too ....

Yes, every time, but I've been with him for years now, I tell him how I'm feeling about life, and he turns it into a cut/colour (but tbh, its long highlighted hair, and never changes much)
