Help me keep warm

So, I'm dreading winter as I'm always freezing!
It's manageable at home but my colleague at work is always hot! Especially with covid, last few winters he insists on having the door open. I feel covid was a good reason but not expecting anything different for this winter!
I work in an industry where I cannot wear blouses with button cuffs and woolly jumpers are not the best. I'm a hairdresser if that helps! So constantly rolling my sleeves up getting cold arms and hair gets stuck in places you wouldn't believe... never mind in knitted clothes! This also means I have to wear flat shoes/trainers and be fashionable.
I'm only short but slim, can you help me finally pull off a stylish winter!

Have you tried thermals? I almost always have thermals underneath any outfit during winter. You can get vests and short sleeved versions if you’re regularly needing to roll sleeves up. Then whatever you normally wear on top.

@GodspeedJune thank you. Yes I have some long sleeve heat tech tops from uniglo but they didn't help much last year in deep winter. Nowadays they're great under a dress or other top though

Uniglo thermals! They are very thin and I also have their thermal shorts which have a high waist but are thin enough to wear under anything.

Sorry cross posted with you!!

Flockameanie · 26/09/2022 18:06

You need the heavier duty Uniqlo thermals! There are three types - I find the middle one fine for when I’m out and about. The heaviest duty ones I wear when I’m at home (freezing house)

Not a clothing suggestion, but unless your colleague is your supervisor, it's not right that it's always his comfort prioritised. Can you not come to some arrangement whereby at least some days will be kept warmer so that you are warmer? Beyond that, it's ridiculous to keep the door open in winter. Surely your workplace has some heating on in winter? and therefore a waste of energy too.

Not sure what the Uniqlo thermals are like but mine are from M&S and are lined with a soft fleecy material, may be worth a look Smile

Uniqlo gilet

Tailored wool trousers, tops with elbow length sleeves, with a tank over the top, and nice brogues.
Pure tank & tailored trousers

@Flockameanie I'm on it now! Thank you

@Precipice it's complicated! There could be a whole new thread on this but tbh I can't be arsed!

@GodspeedJune @Whataretheodds thank you!
@MintJulia if only! I love that look! Thanks! Only I'm not sure it would work without a collared/cuffed shirt and wool trousers sound itchy with added hair cuttings!

Layers make all the difference. I would wear a long vest tucked in, a long sleeved top, a tank top and a cardigan. Plus always a scarf/snood and wear tights under your trousers.
